I snagged my parents old turntable around 6 months ago, and I've been picking up vinyl every now and again since. I'm looking for a good repository of data on what's good that's out, and what's coming out. There's a used record shop near me, and I pick up new stuff at Hot Topic occasionally...but it's hard to know what to get when I see it.

Any help would be great. TIA!

Some places to look at for buying stuff..

I got my 30th Anniversary Edition LP of The Dark Side of the Moon at Acoustic Sounds.

Red Trumpet is another good source for albums - it seems they carry more mainstream vinyl releases.

www.gemm.com is a good database of new/used music with a virtual catalog of used LP stores all over the world - sort of an ebay for music.

What a coincidence, I was browsing at Hot Topic today and picked up a copy of DSotM 30th Ann. for $15. Just listened to the first side, and damn it sounds good.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Keep the discussion coming ;)

If there's no place local for you, then eBay might be your best bet.

I've won a few LP's there myself, although it can be a real crap shoot - you just have to know what to look for and how to ask for specifics.
