Hey folks, I'm in the process of setting up a home theater from scratch. I've been doing a lot of research and was going to get a flat panel Toshiba TV but am thinking it might be a better idea to make the jump up to HDTV. It seems like HDTV makes a big difference. I'll mainly be using this TV to watch DVD's but Rogers cable also provides HDTV broadcast so I might go for that. I live in a small apartment so I'm planning on getting something around the 27" size range, maybe a little bigger. What are some recommended TV's that I should check out. Will I need an HDTV receiver to watch DVD movies?

Philips and Samsung make 4:3 HD-capable sets in the 27-inch size, both at reasonable prices. No, you do not need an HD tuner to screen DVDs, but do get a progressive-scan player for the best picture quality.
