Remember when getting excited for a television premiere meant, like, a crisis at a Chicago hospital, or finding out who Jennifer Aniston's character would be dating that season?

...Yeah, those people were suckers.

I think I'd place Prince Oberyn Martell's introduction as only slightly-less awesome/effective than the introduction to Tywin Lannister way back in Season One. Barely. That guy earned his place in this cast with a quickness.

Also: Tywin Lannister in full-on Sauron-mode, forgin' them swords.

Finally: It never ceases to amaze me how this show, like the books, has managed to actually make me feel sorry for Jaime.

Had to laugh at the statue of Joffrey standing over a vanquished wolf. What a pompous douche.

Didn't recognize Khaleesi's advisor / suitor; and then I read online that the character had been recast, which explained that.

That confused me as well, as I kept saying, "But that's Liam from "Nashville...color me confused...."

This season in King's Landing is going to be incredible. All of the conniving and scheming that's due to come is just glorious, and the audience is gonna eat it up. I mean, the one-liners in this episode alone were stunning.

"Keep it. A one-handed man with no family needs all the help he can get."

ICE COLD. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember that line from the books.

By the way, for those who read the books, and specifically the pre-release chapters from Book 6, there is a recent chapter you may be interested in. Without any spoilers, let's just say it is proof positive that Martin is closely following the show, and the showrunners/writers have some inside knowledge of the next book.

Also, it's easily one of the better chapters in the entire series.

the show is confusing?
God, yes. Outside of the internet, I don't know a person that doesn't have to read a recap to told what they've just watched. At the risk of further lowering everyone's opinion of me :), I'm not much of a fantasy fan so I'll admit that I only watch this show because nothing else is on Sundays at 9 and because there's almost always some crazy, sick or cool shit going on in each episode but I couldn't tell you who many of the characters are, why almost anyone does anything, their alliances, their goals or where they are in geographic relation to each other. For me, that comes more from not really caring to rewatch or get clarification but this is definitely a show where you need to know who's who and remember a lot from previous seasons because they don't waste their time recapping things for casual viewers (and that's a positive aspect of the show).

He still looks/feels miscast to me. At least give him the blue beard so there is no mistaking who it is. This Daario is just not exotic enough.

The Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning series launched its ten-episode fourth season Sunday, April 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, with other episodes debuting subsequent Sundays at the same time.Cast regulars for the fourth season of GAME OF THRONES include: Emmy® and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Charles Dance, Aidan Gillen, Jack Gleeson, Kit Harington, Diana Rigg, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Alfie Allen, Jerome Flynn, Conleth Hill, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Stephen Dillane, Natalie Dormer, Iain Glen, Kristofer Hivju, Sibel Kekilli, Rose Leslie, Rory McCann, Michael McElhatton, Iwan Rheon and Carice van Houten.Among the early critical praise for the fourth season, the Los Angeles Times called GAME OF THRONES “the Best Television Show Ever,” adding that “no other series comes close,” and “television just doesn’t get any better than this,” while Newsday hailed the series as “still TV’s best,” awarding the show an A+. The Hollywood Reporter observed, “The consistency of excellence in GAME OF THRONES is truly something to behold,” and the San Francisco Chronicle described it as “great and addictive.”The season four premiere of GAME OF THRONES on Sunday, April 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) was watched by an average of 6.6 million viewers, making it HBO’s most-watched program since the finale of “The Sopranos” in 2007 (11.9 million viewers).
