Universal City, CA – Discovery Communications and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment announced today the release of North America, a Discovery Channel landmark natural history series produced by Wild Horizons Ltd. and narrated by Golden Globe© winner Tom Selleck (“Magnum P.I.”), on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on October 1. Join the adventure as Discovery Channel journeys deep into a hidden world, crossing impossible mountains and endless deserts, diving into unexplored forests and crashing into rugged coasts to discover Earth’s most spectacular wildlife. North America showcases the unforgiving and brutal, yet beautiful, continent and the boundless rewards it offers for those brave enough to take on this land and call her home. After five years in the making, using state of the art equipment, North America premiered on May 19, 2013 and was recorded as Discovery Channel’s highest natural history performance since Life in 2010.

"Both Discovery Communications and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment aspire to provide compelling original programming to audiences and the breathtaking series, North America, represents some of the highest quality content we have ever released. We are excited to help make it a major consumer media event when it arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and digital platforms this fall," said Bill Sondheim, President of Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment. “In addition to the Blu-ray and DVD collections, we are excited to bring viewers a combo pack that includes North America on Blu-ray along with a 32-page photo booklet – a perfect gift for Discovery Channel fans this holiday season.”

”Discovery prides itself in producing awe-inspiring natural history series, such as Planet EarthLife and now North America,” said DeAnn Paley, Vice President of Digital Syndication, Discovery Communications. “Our partnership with Gaiam Vivendi provides viewers the opportunity to take home their own piece of this iconic program, including footage previously never captured on camera.”

Packed with bonus features, including commentary with the filmmakers and a music only option featuring nature sounds, North America will be available as a two-disc Blu-ray featuring an exclusive photo gallery and a two-disc DVD for the suggested retail price of $34.99 and $29,93, respectively. In addition, the series will also be available on Blu-ray with a 32-page photo booklet of the country’s untamed wildlife and wilderness for the suggested retail price of $39.93.
