I have a sort of unrelated question (but related because it all started by reading this thread) for those who have read the book, Gates of Fire.
I bought this book after reading some reviews of it early on in this thread, and because I wanted to read it to get an overview of the history before going to see "300" (doesn't hit theaters in Japan until June). However, I am several weeks to a month out before I can really crack it open (other books in line) and my 14-year-old son wants to read it first.
The question: my only concern with this is whether it contains any content (besides battle violence), which may be inappropriate for someone his age. His favorite books are the LOTR trilogy and Harry Potter. Would he like this book as well? Does it contain any pornographic or other thematic elements, which may be not be appropriate for someone his age?
Shane, He should be fine, at 14. Thematically, it's a fantastic book for a young person. There is no pornography, though there is quite a bit of crude language. There are a few sexual situations, but nothing major.
Assuming he can watch all PG-13 movies, he's old enough to read it.
Yeah, I think Chuck was referring to the book. Otherwise, the sex scene between the King and Queen was rather tastefully done. It's the farthest thing from adult video.
This new Warners Bros. site just opened a few days ago and specializes in high quality vinyl and (supposedly) eventually dvd-audio releases.
The engineers doing the mastering are highly respected and create sound that sounds natural via a conventional sound system, rather than boosting things like bass/treble/compression and other aspects so the sound is just O.K. :frowning: when heard via $5 earbuds and 96kbps MP3 files (FYI: a LOT of CDs, new and older ones being re-released, are being ruined this way).
