Several sites and retailers are showing the first two "X-Men" films as going on sale on April 21 (the week before the new Wolverine movie hits theaters). At least at DVD Empire, there's another listing for X3 as well, although I can't tell if it's a new edition (a la Casino Royale), an unchanged re-release to tie in with the first two, or just DVD Empire re-listing the title.

It wouldn't surprise me that these get a BD before "Wolverine" arrives.

I've held off on picking up X3 BD, because I think at some point all 3 will be in a box set. This is no brainer for Fox. Series will look great on BD.

Even though I like the action in 3, I'm still mad & sad that they killed Cyclops & that they changed the story line so much. Hoping they can get Singer back for a proper X4 and wrap up the series better. (My secret theory is that Cyclops returns in X4 because Nightcrawler teleported & saved him which we don't see until X4 [IMG] )

Remember when the DVD of X3 came out, some people got the wrong disc. A disc that had deleted footage. It was supposed to be held back for a future SE. I have a friend that GOT that disc. It has features that my DVD didnt have.

I hope any future Blu will give us those features, that still have not made it out, on purpose!

As long as both versions of the first movie are included...not to mention all the previous DVD extras...I'll be a happy camper. I'd even double dip on X3, sadly.

On D-Theater tape X1 looks a bit below average and X2 looks decidedly above average for the format, IMO. I think that will proably play out for BD's also. Fox doesn't seem to put as much effort ino it's fils as the leaders.

I doubt I'll buy the discs. My tape decks continue to function purr-fectly well and the tapes are glitch-free.

The original X3 release was AVC too, though on a BD25 with 6.1 DTS-HD MA. I'm sure it couldn't hurt to give the film more space.

Can't wait for the first two films, especially X2. Definitely a day 1 purchase for me. Didn't care much for the third.

SRP $34.95 - If I'm not mistaken these are the first catalog Fox titles priced below $40. Hopefully this is a trend.

    I'll be getting both.

No mention of re-release of X3. There's nothing wrong with the current disc but I might double dip for an extended cut.

I think that's still too high, but to be fair, I've seen other Fox catalog titles with a MSRP of $29.99, titles like Drumline, Antwone Fisher and Sideways.

I know that Fox dropped the price on some of their catalog titles but only after they'd been out for a while. Were those prices on those titles the same when they were first released? If so then I was mistaken.

As for too high a price I guess it's all relative to the individual. For me it's
    A. How much I like the title
    B. A/V Quality - (only known for sure after I've watched it myself on my own setup)
    C. Worthwhile bonus features/Alternate cuts

While I'd love to pay less across the board for BD's, catalog (and new) titles that I feel the need to own are few and far between these days so when something comes along I want to own I'll unapologetically snatch it up. I suppose if I were less selective on what I bought the current pricing would be more of a factor and I'd be more selective based on price rather than on the title.

There is only ONE version of X-Men 1.
They were going to make a 1.5 version with added footage, but backed out and released a X-Men 1.5 with additional bonus features but the same cut of the movie.

My big question is whether there'll be a box set or only single releases..........

The price for a box set would be cheaper than even the 'reduced' msrp they're showing for the individual movies.

Those three titles I noted haven't been released yet, they're scheduled for release later this month and in February.

There is talk of this over at Blu Ray.com also. Not sure on the date though.
