What's your all-time number ONE favorite food? Just ONE, the one favorite of ALL.

Mine is: dandelion greens in lemon juice and olive oil.

it depends what you mean by favorite. I mean, I've had "Sinfonia de Conjejo con Langosta al Azafron", and it was pretty spectacular. But I've only had it once (at "Taberna Del Alabardero", in DC.

But I am also a pretty good cook, and of the dishes I eat on a semi regular basis, probably chicken kabuli. The problem is that if I cook it too regularly, I get sloppy-- preparation isn't perfect, less than perfect ingredients-- and so I rotate it out in favor of other things.

And perfection is a must. Nothing worse than spending three days making croissants and having them turn out badly.

Prime Rib with freshly shredded Horseradish. Cooked to a medium rare, I'm in heaven for the short period of time it takes me to devour it [IMG]

    Pizza is a close 2nd.

Roast Pork Loin with Spaetzle and Sauerkraut and a pan reduction gravy. If I was going to the chair, I'd ask for this as my last meal. If they could cook it to my Dad's perfect recipe, I'd die fat and happy.

Imported Kalamata Olives, soaked in high quality extra-virgin olive oil spiced up with rosemary, oregano and hot pepper. To be eaten with Ciabatta bread, crispy.

    Yes, I'm Italian.

    The glory of California cuisine:

Fresh abalone pounded flat, breaded, and fried served with salad, sourdough garlic bread, and a good white wine.

This hasn't been available since abalone got over-fished decades ago..... [IMG]

Put some cheese on it and make it non-kosher THREE ways. :b

Oddly the best Prime Rib I can say I've sunk my teeth into was at Clint Eastwoods Mission Ranch in No. Cal.

Pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese.

I can devour an entire pizza on my own...Thankfully, my job is physical so I can keep most of it off.

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

I especially like the pizza when it's greasy with the cheese falling off.

Home fries - cooked in bacon grease in a cast iron skillet until a golden brown.

Yeah, I know, you can hear your arteries hardening from here. Like Jeff, I could die happy with this as my last meal!

And Jeff, the pork roast with sauerkraut is another favorite - my dad was Czech, and the Czechs consider it their national food.

Yup, my Mom is German and loves German food. But alas, she does not cook, so her mom taught my father how to cook a pork roast and to make homemade spaetzle. She always cut an end off the roast and diced it into the sauerkraut for flavor. MMMM good.
