"Taxi", which was directed by Tim Story also and released by Fox, had both the theatrical and an extended version on the same disc. So there's a possibility it could happen here also.

F4 is more special effects movie then taxi.. which is probably the hold up.

Looking forward to the DVD, especially if it features an extended version of the film. (Hey, it ain't a classic, but it was fun and wholly undeserving of the trashing it took).

I've seen the Corman version and it's not that terrible. It's pretty much a cheesy tv movie with cheap effects, but with the FF spirit intact. Worth a look if you can find it...

Link Removed has a release date of december 13 for the theatre version of fantastic four on dvd.

Has there been any additional word on this possible release? I missed the movie in theaters and held off buying the original DVD because of the possibility of an SE later on.

Maybe at this point, Fox is hanging on for the sequel to re-release the original. Just a guess.

I can't stand the new software's search function! I type in "Fantastic Four" and get just about every thread ever made. Useless. So, I have to use this thread. I've never seen FF, but I've been on an FF kick lately and want to see it now. Did I read that there was another version coming up sometime this year? I want to know all my options before I buy anything.

Hehe. Okay, I figured this thread hadn't been revisited since last year. I now see from the latest posts that there is no news. I guess I'll just buy the current one instead of waiting for something that may never come.

There's apparently a sequel coming next summer. There could easily be a double-dip sometime in 2007. After all, this is Fox we're talking about.

Where this release could really excel is the 2nd disc.

Elektra DC still wasn't that good of a movie, but the second disc made up for it by having docs on the comic legends that created her.

I just saw the widescreen EE on Deepdiscount, but it is giving a release date of 6/19. Wouldn't you know it, I want to give it as a birthday gift for 6/8.

that is the only place that I had seen it listed as june 19th.. it would be strange to release it after FF 2 is out in the theatres.
I have not heard of change of release date for it.
better to release it before.

Amazon is showing a release date of June 5. I think Deep Discount's date is wrong.
