Just it was curious that both Cheney and Bush have flat out said that pilots had authorization to shoot down any plane that did not obey orders to divert on Tuesday and afterwards.
So much for that movie plot.

A friend who is on duty at Andrews AFB told me he was informed that any aircraft in the air after the first attack would be shot down. That's why every airplane landed at the nearest airport, some even going to Canada.
Yea it's just what a friend told me, but is he more reliable or is the media?

CNN's wording of that article is pretty tasteless.
"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In the moments after it became apparent that the United States was under attack Tuesday, President Bush authorized the military to shoot down any unauthorized civilian aircraft that might have been heading toward the White House or the Capitol, Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.
"We decided to do it," Cheney declared on NBC's "Meet the Press."
The chance never materialized."
The chance.. like Bush and Cheney were waiting with joysticks to shoot down commercial jets like aliens in Galaga.
Terrible journalism. Or at least the lack of tact with your own written words.
