I agree. I loved him Apollo 13 and Abyss. As for the Rock outtakes, they are described a bit in the commentary. He was "freaking out" to keep his intensity up for his character. Was bit unpleasant to watch a first, but then I thought it was pretty funny.
And not forget about his masterpiece in Creepshow

Yeah Ed Harris is a great actor without doubt, in fact every film ive seen him in hes been great, Apollo 13, Truman Show, The Rock.
I rate him amongst my best, De Niro, A Hopkins, G Oldman, S Buscemi, A Pacino, K Spacey, Benicio del Toro etc...
