1) Shrek - You need something animated and something for the kids.

2) Pearl Harbor - you need something the wife will watch and enjoy.

3) The Matrix - gotta have something that is all action.

All three provide a ton of extras that represent the best that the DVD format offers.

1. Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. Great movie, super transfer, huge amount of extras, and most importantly, going out of print for ten years.

2. Fantasia Anthology. Terrific movies, superb transfers, tons of extras

3. Criterion Brazil. Everything you could want to know about a movie in one box.

1. Citizen Kane

2. The Godfather DVD Collection

3. Toy Story Ultimate Toy Box

All three choices reflect the state of the art at the time of their original releases, have terrific extras and background stories included, and belong in every movie fan's collection.

1. Seven - The DVD is closer to the Director's intentions than the film was.

2. Fight Club - Lot's of Extras, great movie, great transfer.

3. Citizen Kane - Just to show that classic films can benefit from DVD's just as much as modern films.

Only 3? ouch.

1. Toy Story & Toy Story 2 - The Ultimate Toy Box
This Box-set is "Reference" quality in every way imaginable.
2. The Rock - Criterion Collection
Outstanding action flick with an always outstanding criterion treatment.
3. Ghostbusters - Collector's Series
This is just a damn funny film and an excellent special edition DVD.
It's hard to pick just three. My head was starting to hurt.

1. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

2. Dr Zhivago

3. The Secret Garden (1993)

Had Criterions BRAZIL been Anamorphic, I would instead make that number

2 or 3.

1. Star Wars Episode I - because it's Star Wars.

2. Matrix - because Star Wars Episode IV is not on DVD yet.

3. Willow - because a lot of people from Star Wars worked on it, and because Episode V is not on DVD yet.

Oops...shouldn't have skipped this one!
1. Fight Club...broke new ground. Everything included is designed to enhance the film. It uses the format to draw the viewer into the film. It also looks great, sounds great, and it's Fincher at his best.
2. Moulin Rouge! This, and the above film, are the pillars of my collection:D Again, the features serve the film...and again, the film deserves the attention. Wonderful colors and sounds.
Those two were easy...the only bad thing is the love/hate relationship viewers have with them. Some people hate these movies  Yes, it's true!!
So for my third and final choice...it's either T2; UE or Toy Story: Ultimate Toy Box. Both are overflowing with great extras...both look great and sound great! Unfortunately, one was made for older fans only (how sad). But I still think it deserves it. So...
3. Terminator 2: Ultimate Edition The ultimate "event" movie. This film and it's presentation are why many people buy DVD's.
Again,m the most important thing is THE FILM. All 3 of those are mind-blowing in my opinion...they showcase the joys of film and DVD. A lament for the UTB, though...how sad!
Take care,
Chuck

1. Ultimate Toy Box - Perfect in every way
2. Almost Famous - Untitled - Great transfer, sound, extras. Oozes the heart and soul of the director (Cameron Crowe).
3. A Bug's Life - Collector's Edition - The first 'best' and still one of the best around. Perfect audio/video, great presentation.

Star Wars: Phantom Menace: Extras alone make this DVD alone worth owning. Great picture and sound.
Saving Private Ryan: Unbelievable sound. Best first 20 minutes of any film ever made.
U571: Sound alone makes you feel like you are right in the sub.

1 - Fight Club: Features, packaging

2 - Spaced: More features than most movies get. Everything is 16:9 anamorphic. EVERYTHING IS 16:9 ANAMORPHIC. EVERYTHING.

3 - Se7en: Both of the above!
