do u need a progressive dvd with a Sharp 9000 DLP (1 Viewer)

Getting a Sharp 9000 DLP.Salesman says my unit will deinterlace the dvd so i dont need a progressive dvd..Another guy says it wont do as good a job as a decent progressive DVD lets say in the 600 dollar range..any info..

The 9000 has an ok deinterlacer, but it's not as good as a DVDO (silicon image) and definitely not as good as a DCDi (sage/faroudja). Both the $170 Panasonic RP56 and the $400 RP91 would be improvements.

purchased the Sharp DLP in May - wonderful picture. Added Denon DVD w/progressive scan to replace Pioneer DVD. Big difference - much better
