Airport

I like Burt Lancaster and Dean Martin more than Bill Paxton and Cary Elwes, but I also am fascinated by tornadoes. Close call.

The Towering Inferno

I had to flip a coin. I won't argue with anyone about their choice here. I think Apollo 13 is a better movie overall, but TTI is superior when they are judged purely as "disaster movies".

Brad,

I think I pretty much share your assessment. Also, I think both of those movies (Apollo 13 & Towering Inferno) are far better than either of the films in the other bracket.

The Towering Inferno

(Any movie that has O.J. Simpson attempting to act in a "serious" role has to be considered a true disaster.)

TWISTER- While the film is quite unrealistic on more than one occasion, tornadoes are my greatest fear, yet I am also fascinated and somewhat obssessed with them, so this film gets my vote.

THE TOWERING INFERNO- obvious.
