BILLY WILDER (so far he's got a perfect score from me. batting a thousand!)

One, Two, Three (1961) - [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] - Love it, one of my all time favorite comedies!
The Apartment (1960) - [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] - One of the greatest films ever made, number three in my opinion.
Some Like It Hot (1959) - [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] - So perfect and brilliant it's hard to believe it really exists
Witness for the Prosecution (1957) - [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] - God he was an incredible writer and director, the visual and verbal complementary ways of telling a story, particularly in this mystery, are just astonishing.
Sunset Blvd. (1950) - [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] - An amazing film to watch.
Double Indemnity (1944) - [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] - but... but... but... Fred McMurray is a nice guy, right?

    RANKING:
    1. (this is tough)
    2. The Apartment
    3. Some Like it Hot
    4. One, Two Three
    5. Double Indemnity
    6. Witness for the Prosecution
    7. Sunset Blvd

Plus I own the nine disc wilder set, I just need to set down and watch the movies in it!

Wilder is easily my favorite filmmaker. This is due more to his writing more than his directing (His style is somewhat invisible), but that's what he strove for.

I own it, but haven't read it yet.[IMG] My most recent acquisition is a book released by Taschen simply called "Billy Wilder". It's an absolutely fantastic book filled with rare behind the scenes photos that I've never seen in any other book. If you have any serious interest in Wilder, I highly reccomend checking it out.

I've yet to watch SUNSET BLVD., SOME LIKE IT HOT and THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES on DVD which, ironically, are the only decent "Special Editions" available so far of Wilder's work.

From the rest of his filmography, I have IRMA LA DOUCE (1963) on VHS and have missed out on TV screenings of THE EMPEROR WALTZ (1948) and FEDORA (1978) over the years[IMG]!
