ok right.
the $53 price was after 20% discount.
online price is $66.84 before sale.

if you multiply 66.84 by 20% you get the $53.xx price

my first two orders from Friday arrived today condensed into one large box.
No dent, dings, crunches, or box cutter slashes- and from shaking them it doesn't appear there are any loose discs.
I'm happy.
I'm still on the fence about ordering Star Trek next week. Otherwise I may just call it a day with this sale.
It might be a refreshing change of pace to not feel guilt from over-buying things that won't get watched for a while.

'sides, I have to try to remember this isn't like 3 or 4 years ago. Prices are lower in general, and there are some kinds of sales going on every month now it seems.

One order for me as I live in Michigan, unemployed and broke.

A Clockwork Orange BluRay $17.08 after discount.

I'm on the fence with the Planet Earth series. I may order it and put my self in a deeper debt.

Well, I ordered George Carlin - All My Stuff (14-disc set) and 5 other titles for $141 total on DD. Why the hell can't I find "What's the Worst That Could Happen?" on there? That movie was cool. The Scream 3-pack is also MIA. :frowning:

DVD Planet extended their sale thru the 25th as well.

After a positive experience with my first and second orders, I wasn't so lucky with my third. It was missing one title (which is amazing since the whole order only had three titles to begin with)- though that title is still listed on the invoice as well as in the "just shipped" email. Also, the other two discs were just throwin into a padded envelope...no cardboard. They weren't too banged around, but if that is what they are going to be using in the future, it will definitely factor into my purchasing decisions from now on. especially when ordering slim box sets.
I called customer service and the CSR said she couldn't do anything until the 28th(!?) WTF?
It is clear to me that the title wasn't shipped seperately. I don't understand what the wait is going to be for.

I think I will just request a refund on it and then re-order it from DVD Planet. I needed another $10 to get above the $35 free shipping threshold anyway.

Well, I bought Las Vegas season 1 for $13 and season 3 for $15 during the madness this morning. Noone had a deal on season 2 though, so I went back to DD and grabbed it for $16 with the 20% off. :)

Well, finally pulled the trigger on an order at DeepDiscount:

Pixar Shorts: Vol. 1 (SD-DVD) (for a gift) $21.79 - 20% = $17.43

Live Free or Die Hard (Blu-ray) (for me!) $26.86 - 20% = $21.49

Total: $48.65 - 20% ($9.73) = $38.92

Best prices I can find on either one of those titles right now. :emoji_thumbsup:

A little off-topic, but I'd appreciate some insight on this from anyone who has it. Any reason to get this if I own all of the Pixar DVDs? A lot of extra shorts? Anamorphic when they weren't before? Thanks.

This won't be too much help, Scott...because I got the Blu-ray copy for myself on release date. I was asking the same question as you. I've already got them all (well, most of them) on the Pixar releases. But since I was going to get them in HD, I figured, "why not?"

But not only is it great having the shorts in HD...it is really neat to have them all contained in one neat little package. Plus there are a couple of shorts you haven't seen yet (pre-dating Luxo, Jr.) and a couple of Sesame Street shorts (which feature the lamps from Luxo, Jr.). There is also (and this may be enough to convince you) a terrific documentary on the evolution of the shorts and how they parallel the history of the Pixar company. Very well done (as you might suspect).

HERE's the Blu-ray review. And, another side discussion.

I too jumped in one last time for Tokyo Story (Criterion Collection) from DVDPlanet. Now it's time to heal the wounds in preparation for the next sale.

 What restraint.

Just a small two title order for me during this sale. And one of the titles is a Christmas gift for someone else!

And the other is the cheapest I could find the disc anywhere...but it's a disc I wanted instant gratification on but couldn't find in a local B&M (Live Free or Die Hard on Blu-ray). I was in my local Best Buy today and they didn't have it, either!
