I made my order yesterday. Wow, did I spend a bunch of money. It's hard not to take advantage of such a good sale.

So, can anyone tell me how often DDD does this sale? I know they did one in July, so I'm thinking maybe it had one last March as well (that would make it once a quarter). If that's the case, then I'm willing to take a chance and wait until next March to order more. My wallet needs a break.

This is the third time that they had this sale. The first one was last year-end of November, beginning of December.

They seem to do it about twice a year. Of course, each time they do, I get paranoid that it'll be the last one!

I had better luck at 11 am EST than I did yesterday evening, but it still took a while. If I start getting error pages, I just take a break and do something else for a while, then come back to it later.

Be carefull with the failed attempts to place an order too. Somehow I ended up with more than one order placed (I'm not sure how, since I never even attempted to checkout with the subset of items that ended up in that order). In a mixed news result, when I called today around noon, supposedly it was already being boxed up to ship out and wasn't cancellable, so they told me to refuse the shipment (mixed news because I couldn't stop it, and it ends up on the credit card until they get it back, but the good part is that they're shipping fairly quickly, even on the free shipping, course, it'll still take forever to get here ).

I've never shopped here before how are they about out of stock titles? I'd like to get Aqua Teen vol 2, Ali G, and Clerks X but they're all out of stock. Just wondering if it'll take weeks and weeks to get em if I order them.

The sale applies towards OOS it seems. The Office Special and one of the Lone Wolfs were out of stock and it took the coupon.

Like Pat says, if the disc is officially released (i.e., not a pre-order) they'll apply the coupon even if they're OOS. After the summer sale it did a few weeks for all my OOS discs to come in. But they all did arrive with no problems. This is such a good deal that it's worth it (IMO) to wait a few weeks for some of the titles.

Of course, YMMV.

Things seemed to have slowed down at the DDD website. I was able to place an order at 9:30 am, CST without any delays, and that was with a dial-up connection.

Well my order did go through, and I haven't seen a dupe order yet on the site.

I got extra paranoid with the failed order attempt that I fired away an email with the request to check if my order went through (I sent a snapshot of my online order via a screencap program) and asked them to make sure that a dupe one did not get placed. This was within 1/2 an hour of that failed attempt. Last night my proper order went through (and I got a response from the CS email people), and as of this morning [knock on wood] still no dupe order on the Order Status page.

Just a word of advice to all - some of the OOS titles take FOREVER. I think a couple items I ordered around Christmas took >6 weeks to arrive.

They will ship items out as they arrive in stock, however.

If you call their 800 number they'll tell you when they expect the DVD's to be in stock. I know for me Clerks X was due in 11/29, and Ali G was due in 11/26.

Almost got the Chronicles of Riddick but I haven't been able to find out what is on the Best Buy exclusive disc yet (despite massive google searches for info) so I felt I better try to get the Best Buy version.

So, I know the coupon is only good for one customer one time, but is that per coupon, or per this-whole-discount-until-the-20th?

This concerns me, because my experience with their shopping cart included an inability to add more than two items unless I added them all in a row. So I had to clear my cart and re-add the things at least once.

Clear my fear: Was your email confirmation right or wrong? Mine appears to be right (so far, only one email confirmation has arrived and it properly lists the items I ordered... I'll keep checking to make sure another doesn't arrive)
