What rotten timing. I just plopped out $200 yesterday to get the first two Star Trek TOS box sets at Target.

The coupon was in my mailbox Monday.

"Don't you have 90 days to return stuff at Target (as long as it's unopened)? "

Maybe. Wouldn't the operative words there be: as long as it's unopened?

Wouldn't you know that this morning, sippin' me tea, I just HAD to know what the inside was like ....

Took off the outer shrink wrap, but the disk set is shrink-wrapped too ... that I left intact. Still I doubt they'd accept is since the outer wrapper is off ....

I had the misfortune recently to be in line behind a woman at Target who was trying to return a PS2 system that had been trashed so badly it was almost beyond recognition. You had to see it to believe it--she had the whole shebang bundled in her arms with cords everywhere, a shattered case, and no packaging, manuals, or discs to be seen. This thing was obviously some kind of thrift store castoff (or worse), and the woman was going to try and return it for a cash refund.

The clerk asked the woman why she was returning it and she stammered out that the "thang just don't work no more...the kids was playin' with it and it just broke...blah, blah, blah." When the clerk asked for a receipt--surprise!--she didn't have one. And when the clerk asked if she had the credit card with which it was paid for so the clerk could look up the transaction, well, that's when the woman started gettin' mean.

It was a comically tragic scene. The "customer" was furious that the store might want some sort of proof that she actually purchased the item, and the poor clerk was just going to stand there and endure the abuse until the woman ran out of steam and left--literally stomping her feet all the way out the door (no doubt in the direction of the nearest Wal-Mart).

Bottom line? I got to watch some good theater, and I also got an important reminder that stores are really taking a zero tolerance approach to dubious returns this year. I think that's a great thing, since we all end up paying for these "it just broke" sham returns.

Although the coupon at DeepdiscountCD doesn't work (AFAIK), you can search for DVD audio at DDDVD.com try putting DVD_A in the search box.

Good tip on the DVD-A!

This is frustrating, though. . .I'm not sure it's worth spending an hour to place an order to save $20!

I have given up on this sale. Its not worth all the time it takes just to place an order. I had my cart fully loaded (which took about 2 hours) got ready to check out and next thing I know I am booted out and asked to log in again. OF course I couldnt get back on after that. You would think they would have addressed this problem before they announced this sale. It was same thing last time they had a sale.

I'm really cheap, so I'm going to wait and see if the new releases this week will drop in price to beat Best Buy & Circuit City, namely, see if Elf will drop to $15.89 before adding the 20% off.

spiffy. This is the only way I can afford to buy Criterion releases -- most titles are only $23 with the discount.

I am going to try the sale later this week, also. I might try it late at night to see if that helps.

I was frustrated with not being able to get into the sight so I called, not knowing about the sale. Fortunately, the sale was brought to my attention and I was able to place the order over the phone :) . No need to keep trying to place the online order as long as the 800 line is working ...

The DDD site was flying around 6:30 a.m. as well, and I managed to place another order around 7:30 a.m. with no problems.

I decided to take the Farscape plunge and picked up Season 2 and 3 as well. I figure if I wind up not liking the show, I can sell them off with pretty much no risk in losing too much in the re-sale value.

Also picked up some DVDs that have been on my "wanted" listed for a while, waiting for a good sale like this one.

I placed my order at 9:00 this morning with no delay. I had all of my dvds in my shopping cart yesterday except for "Live Aid" which was released today. I added it this morning but I noticed that the price for "Shrek 2" went up a buck from yesterday.
