Yea, when Al was in pain peeing, my first guess was stones. His eyes seem to be going bad quickly too.

As for time lapsed,I figured its been the same amount of time as in between seasons. It had to have been enough time to Bullock to build a house.

I cant remember a Deadwood show that flew by like this one. I couldnt beleive a hour had gone by that fast.

Cy mentioned Eddy taking off, sorry he wont be back.

There were unconfirmed reports last year that Ricky Jay (Eddy) had a falling out with David Milch. Considering that both guys have of history of falling outs, that doesn't surprise me. :)

i don't think al likes bullock at all, but knows that if he's in the position of sherrif, it legitimizes the town and its ad hoc government more in the eyes of the powers that be. so he grudgingly tolerates him in that position. but yeah, the combination of his kidney stones and bad news about the commissioners put him in a surlier than normal mood, and so he snapped off a few barbs at bullock, concerning his relationship with alma. and as we all know, bullock doesn't brook being insulted too well, and i'd think especially where alma is concerned. and al doesn't tolerate people who stand up to him too well either, so there was conflict ahead.

loved al's impression of E.B. and cy's line about bullock pickling his thing in another's c**t-rind. and also, bullock's kid enjoying the whore's bouncing assets during the coach trip. :b

Rome is a new HBO series that starts in June or July that was previewed prior to the start of Deadwood.

Looks pretty good too.

Yeah, that was a riot.

What a great freaking show. I would have liked to see who would have won that fight if it would have stayed in doors. I think it would have been a close one.

Did you guy's notice Alma's hairy pits???

"Welcome to fucking Deadwood"

Great show! I'm glad we don't have to wait a couple of years in between series like a certain other HBO show...

Does anybody know how many episodes are in this season? I'm assuming twelve, just as in Season 1...and yes, I'm asking because it's only episode one and I already don't want it to end!

And by the way, don't let Alice Krige's "guest star" billing worry you - Jeffrey Jones was billed as a guest star throughout season 1, and he's still around. That sort of thing has as much (if not more) to do with the actor's contract as it does with how many episodes they're in.

This show is freakin' great. I'm still laughing over the "mr. Woo" show last season. I take it that the town is going to have a lot more villains this season, according to the web site.

I am really excited over "Rome". If it's in the same vain as "Deadwood", it can not lose.

Since I am fairly conservative, upright of type, with scant patience for some aspects in life, which are often portrayed in film and television, (as entertainment) peppered full of more skuzzy details than I ever wish to see, hear or contemplate.

Well, I am just shocked (yes, mortified! I say!) at myself for letting Deadwood place me in the position of attempting to guiltily explain away why I have fallen victim to a somewhat cerebral equivalent to "buying porn, - for the articles.¨

I again, am ashamed to admit I could not wait for season ii to launch. :)

I know a man, so close to Al Swearingons composite parts it is uncanny. (without the killings, as best I know! :) )

My take, and I have seen it in action with the Al doppelganger of my acquaintance, who also like lighting could turn viciously on men he respected when having a bad day.

I read, that Al respects Bullock greatly. He senses in Bullock a brutal streak (he can relate to) encased in a veneer of civil morality. Bullock will be his own man regardless of outside pressures just as Al will do what he wants, when he wants to. Swearingon suspects all higher motivations in the affairs of humans which Bullock claims to be guided by. Al, with the typical sarcastic laser sights of those centered on themselves who rationalize all actions, with the "might is right" and "dog eat dog" mentality, has a cynics eye for Bullock and suspects that for all Seth's "high and mighty" sense of morality, Bullock boils down to something he can understand. A man appeasing his own brute inclinations, and strong enough to have it "his" way.

Al is infuriated by the respectability Bullock wraps his life in, but admires his unflagging machismo, and the reliable presence he adds to the streets of Deadwood.
I think Al intends to manipulate Bullock, and considers him a useful future tool towards long term goals. Al despises most of the people he controls, the more susceptible to his influence, the less respect Al feels towards them as humans. Bullock is a peer and an equal, a two-edged sword, a weapon in Swearingons arsenal, but one which requires careful drawing and sheathing least it draw blood from the hand which welds it.

I am guessing, Al will be trying to sort out the startlingly turn of events, transpiring after he "hit a donkey between the ears", which tended to get out of hand, due to his own, - out of sorts day, in pain and vicious temper. He does not want Bullock dead, far from it, (nor himself, due to any lack of finesse) If Al stays Al, (as priory written) he will appease Bullock, and learn from this lesson, how to gingerly use this particular "weapon" which has a temper to match his own.

If the writer follows history, Al does not die in Deadwood, and Bullock has a future president yet to meet, Seth has many years to come influencing Deadwoods evolution.

Very happy to see Calamity back, don't want to lose any more characters. I terribly miss the Preacher, and Hickok, so credit to the writer and his talent which fleshed them out so completely (in very few episodes), that they should be so missed, thats a writer who well deserves awards.

Yea he was one of my favortes. I hated to see him go.

"I know a man, so close to Al Swearingons composite parts it is uncanny"

Theres a guy in the building I sometimes work in that looks exactly like Ian/Al - sideburns, mustaphe and all.His black hair is always brushed straight back but hes missing the part down the middle. The guy could past for a double or impersonator.I was gonna go on the bluepages database and post his picture but he doesnt have one. He was given a award for 25 years service to IBM and his face was on the building telecast for weeks. I wish you guys could see him.Its hysterical.

Every time we saw it, a few other fans of the show and myself got a great laugh from it.
