    Adds Two New Titles Sept. 17:

    =====================
    THE MASK OF ZORRO
    and
    SNATCH
    =====================

    __________________________________________________ ___________________

    Culver City, Calif. (July 8, 2002) - Columbia TriStar Home
    Entertainment's acclaimed line of ultra-high-fidelity Superbit Deluxe
    DVDs expands on Sept. 17 with the addition of two titles to the line of
    "pure-performance" DVDs: the double-Oscar-nominated adventure THE MASK
    OF ZORRO and the British crime caper SNATCH.
    The new titles in the Superbit Deluxe line come on the same
    day that CTHE releases "Panic Room" on Superbit DVD, the first time that
    the format has been used for the DVD debut of a recent theatrical
    release.
    Superbit utilizes a special high-bit-rate digital-encoding
    process that optimizes video quality and offers a choice of DTS and
    Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. By reallocating space on a DVD that is normally
    used for added-value content, Superbit DVDs can be encoded at double the
    normal bit rate. The result: picture quality that provides outstanding
    detail that complements the performance of the latest progressive DVD
    video players. Superbit Deluxe expands the concept further by adding a
    second disc that contains special added-value material.

    THE MASK OF ZORRO
    Antonio Banderas ("Spy Kids"), Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins
    ("The Silence of the Lambs") and Catherine Zeta-Jones ("Traffic") star
    in this sweeping retelling of the legend of Mexican hero Don Diego de la
    Vega (Hopkins), better known as Zorro. The aging Don needs to find a
    successor; his choice is the brash, troubled bandit Alejandro Murietta
    (Banderas).
    Told on an epic scale by director Martin Campbell ("Vertical
    Limit"), THE MASK OF ZORRO grossed more than $90 million at the box
    office and shows off its Oscar-nominated sound and sound-effects editing
    and its sumptuous photography and lavish costume design in this new
    Superbit version. The second disc of the Superbit Deluxe set contains
    deleted scenes, filmographies, a music video, photo gallery and TV and
    film advertising.

    SNATCH
    Edgy director Guy Ritchie ("Lock, Stock & Two Smoking
    Barrels") offers a comedic caper film with an all-star cast, including
    Oscar winner Benecio del Toro ("Traffic"), Brad Pitt ("Spy Game"), Denis
    Farina ("Saving Private Ryan") and Vinnie Jones ("Gone in 60 Seconds").
    Del Toro is Franky Four Fingers, who stops in London on the
    way to New York to deliver an enormous diamond. Franky takes a detour to
    an illegal boxing match, where bare-knuckle boxer Mickey O'Neil (Pitt)
    refuses to go down for the count. Mickey's forced to fight again and
    Franky's boss wants to know where his diamond is, leading to a frantic
    free-for-all.
    The Superbit Deluxe edition of SNATCH not only offers the
    best possible image and sound, it also includes a host of special
    features that include: deleted scenes, a "Making of SNATCH" documentary;
    storyboard comparisons; TV and theatrical advertising spots; a photo
    gallery and more.

    [IMG] So Snatch is rated PG-13 now? Would LOVE to see that version, just like the easter egg found on the current DVD. [IMG]

    Snatch has "some intense action and violence"? Yeah...and John Carpenter's The Thing has "mild Sci-Fi violence".

    *I know they just copy and pasted, but it just seems hilarious to me.*

    So Columbia as no problem releasing The Mask of Zorro on DVD THREE times, yet they can't manage a single widescreen DVD release of A Midnight Clear? Rrrriiiight.
