    * * * * Culver City, CA (November 17, 2003) - Solving crimes has never been funnier than
with the award-winning classic TV sitcom, Barney Miller, starring legendary TV veterans and
multiple Emmy Award nominees Hal Linden and Abe Vigoda. *Available January 20 from
Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, BARNEY MILLER: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON
contains all 13 original episodes that aired in the first season (1975). *One of the groundbreaking
and wittiest sitcoms, BARNEY MILLER:THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON will be available for
the first time on a special two-disc DVD set priced to own at $29.95 SLP.

Critics and fans alike consider Barney Miller to be one of the best and funniest police
series ever made. *With intelligent writing and a racially diverse cast that preceded the trend,
Barney Miller produced one of TV's most irresistible squads. *With most scenes set in one dingy
room at the station house of New York City's 12th Precinct, the show's success was largely based
on sharp dialogue, a revolving door of colorful guest stars in the form of Greenwich Village's
eccentric inhabitants and the interplay between the well-developed regular characters. *

Barney Miller (Hal Linden) the precinct's mild-mannered captain and compassionate
family man, tactfully commands his crew of inner-city detectives and somehow manages to
maintain order over this diverse group. *The series co-starred Abe Vigoda, Barbara Barrie, John
Soo, Max Gail, Ron Glass, plus featured guest appearances during the first season from several
classic '70s TV stars including Linda Lavin, Vic Tayback, Marla Gibbs and Todd Bridges,
    among others.

During its seven year run on ABC, Barney Miller was awarded three Emmy Awards
including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing, plus two Golden Globe Awards
and a Director's Guild of America Award. *Also of note, Hal Linden was honored with an Emmy
Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for all seven seasons the
    show was on air.
