What did everyone think of the pilot of CSI Miami last night within the show.

I thought David Carusso was not to bad as Horatio Cain, his support staff was pretty entertaining. They've got neat little Hummers versus Las Vegas' Tahoes. And unlike Vegas unit as actual police officers.

While I was initially againt the idea of a spinoff, I think after last nights episode I am beginning to become more receptive to the idea.

It has potential. I'll watch it to see where it goes.

I see future head butting between Miami:CSI and the FBI.

Anyone else think the spinoff will air on Fridays at 8:00? It seems like they are prepping that slot as they have been playing repeats there for a few weeks now.

I always have liked David Caruso. So I was glad he is the lead for the show. I think where as CSI(Vegas) is more investigating science. I think CSI(Miami) will be more action oriented. I liked that someone with a rifle had to watch when the diver went into the water.

I enjoyed it- the Miami cast seemed amiable enough, and had just different enough a vibe to make any future program interesting.

I too, will miss Ainsley Hayes on the West Wing if the show takes off. Still, it wouldn't be the first time the CSI "franchise" stole the West Wing's supporting players: Jorja Fox was very good as the head of the President's daughter's Secret Service detail, until she got the CSI job...

And it's not like Ainsley as been featured in many episodes of The West Wing this season anyway...

I thought that her introduction to President Bartlett was one of the funniest things I have seen on TV in recent memory and some great acting on her part.

I like that it doesn't appear to be exactly the same formula as CSI. Vegas is purely science based - Miami looks like it'll also feature some "normal police work" too.

The cast looks good - except for the none-information-sharing, trigger-happy FBI guy, who seems to be a bit of a cliche.

I've got high hopes, I'll definitely be watching. Let's see how the show progresses.

I think the distinction was laid out when the Miami crew started talking theories, and the Vegas crew said 'we don't work theories, we work evidence.'

Wow. Last night's episode struck me as a who's who of B-list players from the various TV dramas... We had Caruso (hopefully he learned his lesson from the NYPD Blue fiasco), Proctor, and then the actress who played Peter Benton's sister on ER as the coroner. I agree that it has potential though.

I like it. I liked it alot! I think it will work out just fine. I liked the new Hummer H2 vehicles they were driving around.

I know that they are smaller than the regular Hummer and based on the Suburban but they were still pretty huge.

Caruso did a pretty fine job.

I liked the show. I am a little tired of the Vegas folks repeating "the evidence tells us" or however they frame it. The supporting cast in Miami definitely seems to have some humor to them, which is good.

Yep, they were definately the H2's. They look pretty similar in the front.

Yeah, it gets a big thumbs up from me. I never got the feeling like you were just watching actors playing the same roles as the Vegas team, but instead had their own dynamic. I also can see that they will be playing a little more loosely than the Vegas show.
Still, it was a great treat to see Caruso in the lead again.

I like CSI alot, but the locations they supposedly come up with crack me up. Like, walking around in the woods looking for evidence. I mean, we have woods up in the mountains, but not the lush forests they walk through.
Also, some of the neighborhoods and houses would never be found in Vegas. I assume they film most of this stuff in California.
Remember the episode a couple weeks ago about the guy buring his silver stash in the desert? That was based on a true story here in Las Vegas. They twisted the plot at the end to point the finger at someone else but the truth was that Sandy Murphy and Rick Tabish (the dude digging the silver up in the desert) murdered Ted Binion (Binion's Horseshoe Casino).
You might have thought it was a corny plotline but it was based on a true story in Vegas. I like that they showed here filming the house after ther murder. Sandy Murphy did the same exact thing.
