It began on a Saturday afternoon in the 70s. Why is the earth shaped like an oval? (This youngster was noticing "squashed" credits for the first time) The movie is awesome. Then came VHS rentals. One of the first to come home. Multiple views. K-Mart in the early 90s. What? A double tape of the "restored" version? Beyond anything. Internet. Searched for info all the time. Found Ron's pages. Drooled. Bought the laserdisc eventually to get the "full image." (VHS was 1.85ish) DVD. Pheh. Now this.Dream come true. This is the most anticipated, most appreciated, most amazing release in home video history for me. I am obsessed with this film. Bring it. I. Can. Not. Wait.

That's pretty cool see that some of those places haven't changed much.

Hadn't seen this one. Cool display, too. Now do it for the rest of the shots in the movie! :)

Really looking forward to this very special release. My favorite moments in the film are those dealing with Ethel Merman's character. Could any other actress have better potrayed the cliched stereotype of the overbearing, loud-mouthed, irritating Mother-in-Law? I smile every time she is on the screen and her interactions with Milton Berle and the others are classic. Those large jangling & constantly shaking charm bracelets that her character wears in the film are the icing on a very large cake. January 2014 can't come soon enough!

Merman's part in this has grown much more special to me, too, over the years. There just isn't enough footage of her, on stage or in film, and IAMMMMW helps to fill that huge gap.

I was just going to say this about her, but unfortunately it applies to most everybody involved: the thing that kind of hurts the most is remembering being at that age, going to this and other movies, and taking completely for granted the presence of Merman, Tracy, Durante, Silvers, and all the rest.

    Thank you, Mike.

Just think -- with 70 to go, there's ample time to get a heated enthusiastic discussion going re the whereabouts of the best pastrami, etc.

That's my favorite too. I started going years ago when Dave's Laser Place was just a walk away. I got tired of Jerry's fast as everyone that came for a visit wanted to go there.

When I finally got in there for my first time last year, I loved the place. It took me back to a couple of wonderful delis I'd known in previous lives in previous cities, so it automatically got points. But I also liked the pastrami, even if it's not the hedonistically obscene overflowing gut-busting frenzy-on-a-plate I worship at the Carnegie.

There's a certain local -- :) not mentioning any names :) -- who insists one must go to Langer's for the best pastrami. I look forward to getting one of those behind my belt next time.

EDIT: Credit where credit is due: actually first learned about Art's on the Junior High School Blu-ray.

Not to derail us back on topic, but I just got a notice from Amazon that they've changed the order to release day arrival so definitely going to have a viewing party at my place that Tuesday!
