I'm pretty sure this "dual format" is a flipper disc.

Really? I'd be surprised if that was the case. I don;t think I've ever seen one of those. I know they exist, but I've never seen one. Even the cheap-o DVD/Blu combo packs in the bargain bins have separate discs, it would be quite a shock to see Criterion use them.

BFI started using them. And it does say "dual format edition" which is what Park Circus calls their flippers.

Guys, go to the Criterion site - it says "2 Discs"All Dual-Format Criterions are NOT flippers. Tokyo Story is 3 discs, 1 Blu 2 DVD, Zaitochi is 27 discs, 9 Blu and 18 DVD...

Ahh, apparently Crit doesn't mean the same thing that BFI and PC mean when they say "dual-format".

So Sam, which specific BFI & Park Circus releases are actual BD/DVD flipper discs then? I've got dozens of "dual format" releases by both labels & have never come across such a beast, nor yet seen a review for one...

NONE of the BFI dual formats are flippers. Unless I'm wrong...

I didn't think it was technically posible to stick a DVD on top of a blu-ray disc due to the difference in metal used and coloring.

I bought the three Matt Damon-Bourne features separately rather than in the set, and all three of those are flippers with DVD on the other side. I was wary about buying those, but they were so much cheaper then than buying the box set, so I took a chance. I've watched each several times over the last couple of years, and there have been no problems with the Blu-ray sides.

They've been slowing re-releasing dual-format titles as separate Blu-ray and DVD releases. That's what this is.
