which actor would you cast as Dirk Pitt?

For some strange reason, I've always thought David James Elliott "looks" like Dirk Pitt; I first read Cussler books a long time before JAG started, but when it did, my first thought was that Harmon Rabb looked exactly the way I'd imagine Pitt would look. Can't even remember whether this is correct according to Cussler's descriptions though.
