Is the lack of a proper "Get a Life" box set release a matter of music licensing rights, as has been rumored, or something else?

Alas, the two 4-episode DVD sets of the series that were previously released by Rhino have been out of print for some time now. An ignominious fate for what is, in my opinion, the funniest show to ever appear on network television.

We GAL fans have been waiting patiently for many years.

There are a couple of other threads about this, so I would suggest searching for them, but here is the gist of it as far as I understand it. Late last year while Chris Elliott was promoting his book. He had confirmed that Sony was ready to go on a season one DVD release and that he had recorded episode commentaries. However, he had said there was an unspecified legal entanglement holding up the release. It has been hypothesised in the other threads that David Mirkin is the reason behind the holdup.

I feel your pain on this. GAL season sets are one of my television Holy Grails
