Just a shameless web page plug, check it out and let
me know what you think of the web page and the gear.
It's not a million dollars but it works (and it's
constantly growing)
Ignore the center channel in the pictures as of yesterday
I replaced that center with AR's Hi-Res AR4C (WOW)

Cool web site, and very nice installation! Looks great. Why isn't an HDTV on your upgrades list? Or, is that set you have HD ready? (couldn't tell...)

Brett, nice work on the website and the HT! It looks great.

I noticed "westol" as the webpage was loading, and figured you must live pretty close to me. Then I saw that you live in Wyano, which isn't all that far from Herminie.
Good to see someone so close to home here on the HTF!

As for the bad rap about the characters--hey, I've seen space operas that put their emphasis on human personalities and relationships. They're called "Star Trek" movies. Give me transparent underwater cities and vast hollow senatorial spheres any day. --Roger Ebert on The Phantom Menace

Tom,
Wow a local yokle! Yep I went to Sr. High in Herminie
Yough Sr. High Class of 94.
Keiran,
My opinion is that HDTV is currently not worth my time.
I have seen HDTV's in action and I am not impressed. My
mothers fiance has a 16:9 Theatherwide HDTV and an RCA
HDTV DSS system and it can't compete with my Analog RCA
900 Line NTSC Display (IMHO)
The next step is a CRT Projector just for movies.
Thanks for the compliments fellas!

Great setup!
Have you tried pulling the mains slightly forward of the tv, and changing the degree of toe in?
Congrats.

Thanks for all the positive compliments I take them to heart
and sincerely appreciate them. Especialy coming from Jens
who has in my opinion one of the best "theaters" on this
forum! Jens, your theater is to die for :)
If I had the room to do a dedicated theater I would in a
heart beat and I did have the perfect room for a theater
but my other love is cars and I converted the room down
stairs into a showpiece garage stall for my Corvette's.
I will have pictures of that when it's done :)
Bob I have the mains kicked in roughly 30 degrees and they
are spiked with the front spikes adjusted down so that the
speakers are aimed at the center of the room. I also have
my AR4C aimed down to converge on the same point and my
Surround L/R are again aimed to converge on the center of
the room. It sounds great this way but I don't mind taking
the time to experiment. I will mess around with positioning
after I get the rest of the equipment (sub, new DVD player
and some other junk) and then I need to invest in an SPL
meter and AVIA,VE disks.

Wow Brett, nice HT!!As I see, you're very handy with the walls and drilling. How tall are your mains?

Gorgeous website and cool images. Are those real bricks? They look pretty darn cool.
As for the rear projection tvs, you obviously havent seen the Pioneer Elite PRO HD units, those pioneer sets have an absolutely beautiful image quality.
Check em out and you will be impressed for sure.

Aaron,
I won't dispute that some HDTV's have great pictures as
that is the whole point in digital, But in my search for
an RPTV I looked at every brand out there HDTV and NTSC
and I chose the RCA (price wasn't an issue either) The
features and the picture on the RCA 61" is HDTV "quality"
without a doubt in my mind.
Parker,
Sure thing! I was wondering how ya got a listing on the
Theaters page! :)
Bert,
My AR9 Mains are 36" from botom to top of the cabinents and
they are spiked and raised in the front (about a 10 degree
angle I would say offhand without a protractor)
Again many thanks all!

Aaron,
Sorry I forgot to awnser your question about the stones on
the wall. They are "Z-Brick" if I am not mistaken (I don't
have the boxes around anymore to check the name) basicly
they are molded concrete stones that you can put right over
drywall or plastered walls using a special type of mortar.

Very nice Set-up. I really like the faux-brick wall.

Although I'm not sure I understand your logic about not putting an HDTV (even just HDTV ready)on your list of future upgrades.

JohhnyD,
Thanks for the compliments. The best reason I can give you
for not listing HDTV as a future upgrade would be this. Some
people still love Vinyl LP's and tube amps.. Make sense?
NTSC has been the standard for 50+ years it's not going away
any time soon (at the earliest 2010) by the time my set is
10-15 years old then HDTV will have become a viable standard
of broadcast and then I will upgrade. For now my NTSC CRT
RPTV projects the most beautiful of images I could ever ask
for. And it's not 100% analog either, as it does contain a
3line digital comb.

Interesting setup. Wow is your center channel speaker ever high in relation to your front speakers! I thought mine was high. Just curious, how does it sound?
