Cheap barcode scanners...do they exist? (1 Viewer)

The Cuecat is not available in Canada, so are there any (cheap) alternatives? I'd love to scan my DVD collection and enter them into DVD Profiler, as well as have records for insurance purposes. But, everywhere I look, barcode scanners are in the $200 US range. :frowning:
Is there any hope for us Canadian brethren?

Max...
Follow this link to IBM's webpage. They are offering a FREE cuecat scanner to US and CDN residents. I have received one, and it does work great for entering DVD's into DVD Profiler. One word of warning: The cuecat software does track what you scan. There is a privacy issue here. If this doesn't bother you....a free scanner is yours.

Note: Edited to get the #&^% link working!

Thanks for the info Stacey! I just ordered the cuecat, and hopefully it'll arrive before the end of the century!

Well, I got a letter from IBM stating that they discontinued the cuecat program. Crap. I'm not happy. Guess it is impossible to get a cuecat in Canada.
