I understand that the workgroup by default is "Workgroup" - but I want it to be something else - maybe MSHOME.... Trouble is - all the directions I can find are about prior versions of OSX and the few things I found online about 10.5 didn't work. Virtually all of them result in a NETWORK change instead of a workgroup change.... Networks and workgroups are different and mine have different names.... How do I do this?

Nothing to it.
Click System Preferences
Click Network
Click Advanced
Click WINS
type whatever you want in the workgroup box

Thanks Don. It worked.

That's not fair.

I tried it before by copying my connection then changing the WINS setting. It blasted my internet connection. This time it didn't. I'll have to check my PC to see if it can see my iMac now...
