I'm looking to upgrade my 3 front speakers, and I was wondering if there's a problem using 3 identical fronts, instead of a center channel speaker? I've read that having 3 identical fronts is the best way to go. All 3 bookshelf speakers will be at the same height, sitting on a shelf. Thanks.

I don't see how you can do better than 3 identical speakers for L/C/R. Should allow for a great front stage.

And the fact that the center(bookshelf) will have only 1 woofer will still sound good for dialogue? Because all center speakers have at least 2.

The DCM Surroundscape center is a single woofer with the tweeter mounted coaxial. KEF has made several single woofer centers. I have an AudioSource center collecting dust in a closet with one woofer. http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=89614

There are some that have a single woofer. It's usually a cost saving thing, even for companies like Dynaudio. http://www.dynaudio.com/int/home_loudspeaker_systems/archive/audience/audience42c.php I don't care for a single woofer in a "proper" center speaker because the tweeter (or woofer) is usually off-center. The Energy Take classic center also uses a single driver as does an older Polk model, the CSi20 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-iPEkkaaWN5W/p_107CSI20B/Polk-Audio-CSi20.html If you can place a single bookshelf up-right in the center channel position I think that would be ideal.
