Today is my 10th anniversary. My wife designed and purchased a bespoke theater sign for me. It has a color-changing LED illumination bar allowing custom color or color cycling options.
My wife worked with the kitchen designer and we have the bar design completed. It's looking very nice. She also selected flooring tile and backsplash tile, and from there paint colors for walls, trim, and ceiling were chosen.
We met today to review the plans with the theater designer and select carpeting. I've reduced the screen size from 130" to 120". 130" is too big for the room, and the overall experience will improve by going down in size. And I'm getting pricing for improving the acoustic design with ceiling treatments.
We looked at carpeting and brought five samples home to choose from.
I believe it's better to have friends with a boat than to own a boat. I think my friends feel the same way about a home theater room. So everyone's looking forward to this being done.
If my daughter and her family still lived in Fairfax, I'd love to stop by sometime and check things out. But I don't see myself swinging by Virginia any time soon...
No, we're not installing a carnival entrance. The builders installed plastic wall to minimize dust and debris into the home.
Ceiling is down. Riser is framed.
Bar area is cleared and being built back up.
The electronics closet is being built up to be on level with the riser for easy access.
A view from the back looking towards what will be the front of the theater.
And looking over to the side.

Non-theater power run back to HVAC section for installing a whole-house humidifier. Trying to take advantage of the demo. Likewise, some ethernet run back to the homerun to support rearranging the the home LAN a bit.
