Car audio sub for the house need help (1 Viewer)

well it not homemade it a car audio subwoofer a box and everthying but i like to change it to a sub for the house i think i will need a amp or some sort just for the sub becuase my reciver wont provide enough power for it what is the name of those amp and where can i find them i am not sure what to call them or what to search for or how to do it as well

For an amp, you'll have a few choices:

1) A subwoofer plate amplifier which will require some modification to the case to install it - or, you could install the amp in a separate box next to the subwoofer.

or ...

2) A pro audio amp.

Both of these choices can be found by searching via Google. Also, Parts Express sells both plate amps and pro audio amps. Pro audio amps are also sold by musician stores such as Musicians Friend.

No, this is what you should be looking at:

This will provide the power you need and is less money than the pro audio amps that I mentioned above.

thanx for the info put i got one more question i assume it comes with intstruction on how to bulid it or at least how to conncet it and how it conncet to the sub as well becuase the amp you should me look like i have to conncet to sub via plugs rather than copper wires so to say

Amaro,

Don't let all of those connectors on the amp confuse you. The two RCA connectors are for receiving the signal from the subwoofer pre-out on your receiver. The other connectors are there in the event you need to connect satellite speakers to them. In your case, you will not need these. On the inside side of the amplifier, there should be two leads (a positive lead, and a negative lead) - these are what you would use to connect to the subwoofer itself.

so the amp will use the rca conncetor not the satellite conncetor so it will be out to reciver then conncet the rear postive and negative directly to the sub or do i conncet it speaker termial plate i have on the put saide because i already made my sub box and sealed it with carpet and all so i wont have to make holes or nothing on my box do I

You need to have your "subwoofer out" on your amp go to another amp that can handle 4ohm loads. Use your cheapy amp for your satellites and… (This is a long shot) your 4-8ohm amp for your sub. Yeah, use a multi ohm home amp and see what bull wattage rating your speakers really are! I can put 120 watts into a Pro 15” Rockford and start a confetti party. Or, how about you get a 110 to 12v converter and drag your car amp in.
You’ll need several cable adapters also. It’s just a suggestion.
