Kill me now. I haven't even heard this song in years and it popped in my head for no reason at all.[IMG]

    Musical: Footloose
    Song: Almost Paradise

I thought that dreams belonged to other men
Cuz each time I got close, they'd fall apart again

I feared my heart would beat in secrecy

    I faced the nights alone
Oh, how could I have known
That all my life I only needed you?
    Whoa, almost paradise
    We're knocking on heaven's door
    Almost paradise
How could we ask for more?
I swear that I can see forever in your eyes
    Paradise

I thought that perfect love was hard to find
    I'd almost given up
    You must've read my mind

And all those dreams I saved for a rainy day

    They're finally coming trye
I'll share them all with you
Cuz now we hold the future in our hands
    Whoa, almost paradise
    We're knocking on heaven's door
    Almost paradise
How could we ask for more?
I swear that I can see forever in your eyes
    Paradise

And in your arms salvation's not so far away

    It's getting closer

    Closer every day
    Almost paradise
    We're knocking on heaven's door
    Almost paradise
How could we ask for more?
I swear that I can see forever in your eyes
    Paradise
    Paradise

When that song was at it's hieght of popularity, my friend had gotten a camcorder and we had TONS of VHS tapes FULL of stupid stuff...i.e. you know, just a bunch of high school kids (with a lot of time on our hands) hanging out, doing stupid things, etc.

At one point, I edited a bunch of the more memorable moments together to that song (as a goof). It was prefect because it was a sappy song put to very funny visuals. Now, everytime I hear it, I think of those moments and start cracking up. [IMG]

EDIT: Damn, if I had only had the technology we had today (with computer editing), I could have run those clips in slow motion and it probably would have been even funnier! [IMG]

Nothing to worry about. Just hum a few bars of "Seasons In The Sun". That'll drive anything out.

Of course, then you have another problem...

'Seasons In The Sun' is the National Anthem (of whatever country you belong to) compared to the worst song ever written, which I heard at a local video store today, for the first time in what seems like several decades. It was a little ditty called 'Kung Fu Fighting.'

    You have it easy, Hunter.

I feel your pain. About a week or so I had the David Bowie/Mick Jagger version of "Dancing in the Streets" stuck in my head for like three days. Now, as much as I like them both, three days of that song is far from a good thing.

But worse than that, probably the most annoying-ass song I've ever had stuck in my head was that Timon and Pumbaa song from THE LION KING, right around the time the new DVD was coming out. I wanted to throw myself into traffic.

Wow, never heard that about stress, but I can think of two recent times this happened to me in the past year, and both times were more stressful than usual.

Kung Foo Fighting is Stairway to Heaven compared to the truly worst song ever -

    I've Never Been to Me
    by Charlene

Hey lady, you lady, cursing at your life
You're a discontented mother and a regimented wife
I've no doubt you dream about the things you'll never do
But, I wish someone had talked to me
Like I wanna talk to you.....

Oh, I've been to Georgia and California and anywhere I could run
I took the hand of a preacher man and we made love in the sun
But I ran out of places and friendly faces because I had to be free
I've been to paradise but I've never been to me

Please lady, please lady, don't just walk away
'Cause I have this need to tell you why I'm all alone today
I can see so much of me still living in your eyes
Won't you share a part of a weary heart that has lived million lies....

Oh, I've been to Niece and the Isle of Greece while I've sipped champagne on a yacht
I've moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed 'em what I've got
I've been undressed by kings and I've seen some things that a woman ain't supposed to see
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me

    [spoken]
Hey, you know what paradise is?
It's a lie, a fantasy we create about people and places as we'd like them to be
But you know what truth is?
It's that little baby you're holding, it's that man you fought with this morning
The same one you're going to make love with tonight
    That's truth, that's love......

Sometimes I've been to crying for unborn children that might have made me complete
But I took the sweet life, I never knew I'd be bitter from the sweet
I've spent my life exploring the subtle whoring that costs too much to be free
    Hey lady......
I've been to paradise, (I've been to paradise)
But I've never been to me

(I've been to Georgia and California, and anywhere I could run)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to Neice and the isle of Greece while I've sipped champagne on a yacht)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to cryin' for unborn children that might have made me complete)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to Georgia and California, and anywhere I could run)
I've been to paradise, never been to me

Yes, that song by Charlene is pretty wretched, especially if you're a guy, but I suspect it appeals to a certain militant feminist element. You have to admit that there is a lot more intelligence in those lyrics than the following, which I respectfully submit for your reading, uh, pleasure:

    "Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip

    Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand knew trip

    Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they did it with expert timing

(repeat)..make sure you have expert timing
Kung-fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning"

Uh, no, it's a lot frightening.
