8 1/2 [A+, 99] (my most favorite among Fellini's masterworks over Kurosawa's masterpiece Rashomon [A+, 98]) abstain (The Passion of Joan of Arc [A+, 98], no Mon Oncle)
Thanks for waiting Brook, although I’d just have soon not had to vote, as I love The Lady Eve. But I think that Playtime is not only Tati’s masterpiece (and I know that most of you disagree with this), but one of the truly great films ever made (true, I’d say that about a lot of films, including ‘Eve’), but put another way, Playtime is way up on my list).
And I’m quite sure that JimK would not like it nearly as much as the Sturges.
Ikiru And an interesting match-up. Since I’ve seen the Kurosawa recently, but since it has been a long time for the Ozu, I’ll abstain, unless I can make time to watch Tokyo Story this evening.
