Curious. Is this just the individual season sets packed into a box? And does it include the exclusive documentary?
You mean does it include the exclusive bonus DISC?

(Btw. I have finally confirmed the region codes of the individual season releases. Season 1 AND 5 are "region All". Seasons 2-4 are "region A" only. Not sure about "The Final Season".)

I bought the complete boxset of this series just before XMas having never seen a second of it . I purchased it based on the overwhelming positive reviews scattered all about.

Having watched the first 3 episodes I can only say "over rated" so far.

Surely this will pick up as things progress . I see season 1 is just 7 episodes . Unless things change drastically I can't see how it ever got a second season. Someone please let me know when it gets better.

I have the UK set and I almost returned it as faulty . Why on earth does it need almost 3 minutes to load . My first ever player 7 years go could take a minute or so to load some discs where the PS3 was much faster but my 2013 Bluray recorder and my PS3 both take the same amount of time which is nearly 3 minutes - the PS3 had firmware update a few weeks ago.

It's not as if the discs are crammed to bursting.

Anyone know why these take so long to load . With no Resume and No Bookmarks its a very tiresome experience returning to these .

Keep watching... you will get hooked. I binge watched on Netflix so I don't know anything about the discs.
Based on reviews I was hoping for a repeat of the "must watch the next episode NOW" that I found with 24 but not so far.

Should I expect it to pick up before the end of season 1 ? I was actually planning to send it back if it didn't improve as I thought maybe it just wasn't my type of show

I enjoyed the first season (at a minimum, it has incredible performances and great humor) but it's the weakest year. A couple of episodes into the second season, the show hits its stride and is great from then on. I watched the show as it aired and I remember the second season was when me and a buddy started getting amazed by how good the show was.

There's always one in the crowd who doesn't smoke the meth.

But seriously, comparing this show to 24 is like comparing Chateaubriand to a McDonald's Cheeseburger.

While I don't share your opinion on the first 3 episodes, I found it "pretty good and will keep watching" from the very start, I don't think you should lose hope quite yet on getting addicted to this. My wife and I watched the entire series this past summer. We didn't exactly binge-watched through it. We took a break between the first and second seasons, and another break between the second and third (probably a couple weeks each break); we watched other seasons of a few different shows during those in-betweens. Although, that doesn't reflect on how great we thought the show was, we're just very good about not getting into binge phases, always being strict with ourselves to get mileage out of the shows we watch.

But as season 2 progressed, we found ourselves starting to watch 2 episodes a night. And by season 3, we would occasionally watch 3 episodes a night. On the night we watched the last 2 episodes of season 3 we were planning on taking another break to watch a couple different shows, but we broke down just a couple minutes after the season 3 finale ended, and jumped right into season 4. We somehow were able to withhold our cravings and started a season of a different show after that, but a few days later, and not getting very far in this other show, we went back to Breaking Bad for season 5. Pretty much finished the series off after that, watching 2-3 episodes per night, but for the last night we left the last 4 episodes for the longest marathon we sat through, and it was AMAZING! I think BB is the GREATEST television show ever created, and I don't think anything will ever beat it.

No it isn't.

As I said I knew nothing about Breaking Bad other than its reception . The storyline I had was just the basic premise.

Maybe I was wrong to assume I should get the drift of a show when almost 50% through its first season.

Watched the first episode of season 2 today. I'm watching 2 a day.

After the end of season 1 I still think its over rated but I was on the verge of giving up and sending it back when I got to the end of episode 6 where Walt uses his explosive in Tuko's HQ. That was enough to make me laugh out loud and shout "yes".

Having now seen 8 altogether its definitely picking up but I still hope for some improvement .

BTW - the ridiculous loading times are down to Blurays version of the DVD Angle feature ( great on paper - not that exciting in practice) BD-Live. I locked off the internet connection and the discs now load in seconds

I think it's one of those shows that just keeps getting better and better as it goes. I caught the first three or four seasons on Netflix in a quick binge, and then saw the rest live as it aired. I had pretty much the same reaction you did to the first season (good, but not earthshattering or anything), but by the time the second season ended, I was hooked - I think I passed that point of no return for being hooked around the middle of season two.

Like others, I enjoyed the show from the beginning, but it definitely improves as it goes along. Like the others, I suspect you'll be hooked by the time you finish season 2, but the best stuff will still be ahead of you!

Episode 9 where they are held hostage by Tuko was a good one but it slowed down again for episode 10. The ending on that one didn't have me rushing to see the next one - I can wait until Monday.

I do miss the recaps . They were on season 1 but not on season 2 discs
