Wow...check out these prices...not bad.
Go to www.dvdsoon.com and search for Blu Ray.
While the prices sound good and indicate that Blu ray will not charge much of a premium over DVD, I strongly warn everybody to purchase from DVDSoon (and DVD Import as well, since they seem to belong to the same owner).
DVDSoon will charge you as you order, but most articles are not in stock, and often they will never be. If you cancel you do not get the money back but a complicated rebate/credit scheme is implemented which makes it virtually impossble to get your money back.
I have luckily been burned only for a few dollars, but there are many who lost much more. Look under Feedback forum here at HTF as well as in other forums.
I repeat: Be warned, even if the prices are tempting. You may get lucky, but chances are that sooner or later you lose money.
What Hartwig said is correct. Do a search on the company and you'll find a lot of angry customers worldwide. I think there's a thread in the Feedback section where problems with this company's customer service are discussed.
I have no intentions of ordering any just yet...I just thought the pricing was good.
I may or may not have bought d-vhs tapes from this vendor.
I had ordered from so many different places, with several being in Canada, with zero problems.
Thanks for the heads up anyway though.
To clarify: Other Canadian vendors are reliable. I have nothing but good experiences with ABSound and DVDBoxoffice. DVDSoon is the only one I ever had problems with. By the way, in the US I recommend DVDPacific for excellent prices and good service.
www.dvdempire.com who I have bought many d-vhs tapes from, now has some Blu Ray titles for pre order.
Lord of War and Crash are 27.27
Saw is 19.45
T-2 is 20.87
Chronos is 19.11
Not bad pricing I would say.
Sony catalog 28.99 SRP, with discounts down to 21.70.
Where are you finding the Blu Ray discs at DVD Empire?
Edit: Der, nevermind. Answered my own question
Click on Blu Ray, and theres also an hd dvd option on the left of the main page towards the bottom, then when you get on the Blu Ray page, then click on the complete list.
They just got them up a few days back...so they don't have hardly any yet.
Here is a pre-order/notify me check list from Amazon also.
