Can anyone suggest a monitor(s) that are as good but bigger then the Dell 24 inch, or ones that are bigger and better as far as pixel count. I just found out Apple's $3,000 30" inch (2560x1600) only works with MACS and now im on the hunt for something similar or close that works for PCs.

I'm pretty sure you can connect a computer to the Dell 30" LCD TV. They market it as a TV because few people are looking for a 30" monitor, but I'm 99% sure it can be used as a monitor too.

But TVs have such a lower resolution. 1024x768 or 1280x720 or 1366x768, it's not enough pixels for a clear image when you use a 30 inch as a workstation monitor.

There are cards now to drive the 30" Apple in Windows. ATI even has a combo Mac/PC dual firmware card on the market.

The feature you're looking for is "dual link dvi".
The Radeon 9600 PC-Mac edition is considered by some to be overpriced--it's not a particularly fast card.

Guh, startin to think I should wait. There doesnt seem to be a good monitor that exists. I was hopin to get a bigger screen with atleast the same quality but that Apple has hardly any connections. Where as you can use my Monitor as a TV with composite, s-video, component, vga and dvi.

What's the smallest cheapest 1080p LCD they're gonna shoot out?

I'm debating on wether or not to buy the 24 " when I already have a 20" one. If I do, the 20" one will go down to the JErsey Shore house where our former 20" CRT monster was located.....

Is the 24" Dell one really that much bigger and better?

You can determine that easily with this great website, which lets you compare TV sizes. [IMG]

    Neil,

    I own the Dell 24"

    Significantly larger than my 20"

I love it. It really draws me into
    the Internet surfing experience.

Why not just use 2, 3 or 4 monitors?
You can then get that panorama feel.
Once you go multi monitor you can never go back.

    The seams bother some people.
On the other hand. if you're editing HD video, you can view the video on one monitor, and put the palettes on the other. using the seams to your advantage.

It all comes down to taste, or lack of it.

The big problem with adapting monitors for home theater use is that they usually lack hdcp inputs.

Sounds mildly annoying. Once you hit monitors this big I dont see why people would favor two monitors (centerless) instead of one just big one. I do video/sound editing and graphics design everyday so that's where my opinion comes from.

If you look at the history of these Dell
Monitors, they have received RAVE reviews
in all of the top PC magazines (which I
    subscribe to).

When Dell first started offering large monitors,
I dove into the The 2000FP and a year later, the
20001FP (hope these model #s are correct). Both
were 20" monitors. Absolutely loved both these
monitors, and I still have the 20001FP.

Earlier this year, when the price came down on
the 24" Dell, I jumped on that simply because I
knew of Dell's quality commitment to these monitors.

I love the 24" monitor, and have read nothing but
exceedingly positive reviews in COMPUTER SHOPPER,
PC WORLD, MAXIMUM PC and PC MAGAZINE.

These monitors aren't rated as the very BEST out
there in their class. Instead, they rate as the
best you will get for the money, coming rather close
to the more expensive models that are several
    hundred dollars more.

Trust me when I say these Dell Monitors are a
    very good value!
