1950's - I Love Lucy

1960's - The Dick Van Dyke Show

1970's - The Rockford Files

1980's- Cheers, Cosby Show, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Remington Steele, Falcon Crest, Golden Girls

1990's- ER, Home Improvement, Everybody Loves Raymond, Chicago Hope, Frasier, Murphy Brown

2000's- The Office, 30 Rock, Judging Amy, 24

Not familiar with 1950s television, but

1960s- The Fugitive and Andy Griffith

1970s- M.A.S.H.

1980s- Magnum P.I. (the fans screamed for an 8th season and got it)

1990s- Frasier and Home Improvement

2000s- C.S.I (started in 2000 and still going strong today)
Lost of which I am a new fan

Also wanted to mention that I personally do not even consider reality TV shows like Survivor or American Idol real television like most of us know it.
Also do not include Cable shows like The Sopranos or The Shield due to fact that many people including myself had never seen them in their original broadcast.
I still have never seen The Shield !

Since the "Best" is what's requested, I'm limiting it to one per decade. Here goes:

50s -- The Honeymooners

60s -- The Fugitive (nothing else is even close)

70s -- Mary Tyler Moore (edging out MASH)

80s -- Hill Street Blues (edging out St. Elsewhere)

90s -- Law & Order

00s -- ???? Maybe the end of the decade will bring something worthy of being called "Best"
