I'm a big Kubrick fan, and therefor I also collect "related" stuff (and that's why I have the '97 Lolita too). Bought it when it was discounted, haven't watched it yet. (don't usually care for King's minis BTW, but his new mini is also a remake of a favorite of mine: Riget/The Kingdom.)

Frequency and Exotica are both quite good however, though certainly no masterpieces. :)

Haven't seen any of your recommendations, Chris. I was planning on blindly purchasing one (or two) of those, but there's already plenty of upcoming Criterion stuff I truly need. I'll keep them in mind.....

I think the main idea is to look at the last posters list and comment on that.... But I'd say, whoever you want, I think any of the people posting here would welcome any thoughts, I know I do!

ChrisBEA's Collection

Best 3-

Babylon 5 (any season. My favorite show.)
Solaris
Ed Wood SE

Worst 3-

Feardotcom (inexcusably awful)
The Crow- Salvation
Sleepaway Camp

Need 3-

Schizopolis- Criterion Collection
Screamers
Wonder Boys (who knew Curtis Hanson had it in him to do this kind of flick)

However, you've got such a huge collection, that if I did this every day for a week, the best/worst categories would change completely each time, based the sheer amount of titles to pick from (plus my mood).

Regarding Jeff_HR's Collection:

Three Best:
1. Withnail and I: Criterion (Really, just about any Criterion applies)
2. The Duellists: CE (God, I love this movie)
3. Lathe of Heaven (underrated gem)

Three Worst (tough one; unlike my collection, not much dross :)):
1. Airport 1977
2. Logan's Run
3. Sneakers: CE

You Need:
1. Unforgiven (I see you don't have many Westerns; perhaps this one might move you further down that path?)
2. Don't Torture a Duckling (You seem to be into giallo, and this is an excellent Fulci work)
3. Magnolia (Paul Thomas Anderson tends to be a love him or hate him kind of director; I think, though, if you're into Criterion's stuff as much as you seem to be then you would enjoy him.)

Great collection!

To whomever does my collection: please don't pick any Troma flims as worst. I KNOW they suck :). I'm not sure if anyone else was around for this, but a while back Troma was offering DVDs from their vaults for 25 cents each plus shipping. I bought their entire catalog. Even at that price it was an unwise decision :). Some day I'll get off my rear and Ebay them.

Click the link in my sig to see my collection.

Response for Tim:
Nice picks!
As for the worst, feardotcom, I'm still not sure why I bought it, figured it would be better the 2nd time around, haven't gotten through it yet. ALthough I'm sure one day I'll want to punish myself for something.
Crow Salvation: I rewatched this recently and I still like it very much, to me it's better than City of Angels which I also enjoy a bit
And SLeepaway Camp, their entertaining campy (;)) flicks.

Schizopolis is another one I've been considering lately....

ChrisBEA,

My tolerance/ for camp value is completely random. My enjoyment of Dark Star (one of your worst picks), and not of Sleepaway Camp (one of my worst picks) is testament to that fact. It makes it tough for me to decide which campy films to watch, because I never know if i'm going to be wasting my time or having a blast.

I do think one thing Dark Star had going for it was a true appriciation, understanding of, and respect for the science fiction genre.

" I went up to Doolittle in the hall today (laughs), and I said (EXPLETIVE DELETED), and he said (EXPLETIVE DELETED), so I said, 'Doolittle... (EXPLETIVE DELETED) (GESTURE DELETED)', and he didnt get it!"
Pinback- Dark Star

I'm a little surprised at these picks. I think that "Sneakers"
is a decent film that is very entertaining. I always enjoyed "Logan's Run" even though there are a whole lot more better Sci-Fi films. If I were picking from my library I might have picked "Red House" or one of the 1950's Image-Entertainment Sci-Fi flicks as a worst film.

I disagree about "The Jackal" & "Wolf". I think both are decent fims that I enjoy. "Altered States" is marginal.

If the "Infernal Affairs" is the Korean film, then I have come close to buying it in the past. I've never seemed to be interested enough in Hitchcock's cinematic experiment called "Rope".

"Requium for a Dream" & "Equilibrium" are recent theatrical releases, which is not something that interests me a great deal. My major interest is in older catalog titles.

Jeff_HR - OH. MY. GOD. I was flipping back and forth between screens and must have fliped back to *my* collection at some point. *Blush*. I feel like the world's largest idiot. No wonder I liked those two so much. :D Sorry for the mix-up.

As for the "Worst" picks, remember, it's just my opinion. I loved Logan's Run when I was younger (I'm old enough to have seen it in the theater :)). Having re-visited it recently I was disappointed by it and didn't feel it had held up well. I thought Sneakers was contrived and hokey and felt like a made-for-tv movie, but that's just me.
