Obviously some of the best dvd players in this range, are no longer available atleast easily.

    XP30, RP82, ect

What are the current modern alternative, with similar performance in this price range? It appears that there really isn't anything [IMG] Either $400-$500 for a denon, or pay $200 for a lesser picture quality then the XP30 for example.

Or the panasonic that is here seem close but no cigar. Sorry, it's late and I see now that I'm not thinking straight. Seems like your right.

I came into this thread thinking of the same unit as Jose, the Pioneer DV-578A. Great progressive DVD-V performance (though the interlaced performance is a bit lackluster), as well as stereo and multichannel DVD-Audio (24-bit/96k digital pass, 24/192 internal conversion, 5.1 analog output), Super Audio CD, and built in DTS/Dolby Digital decoding.

Couldn't tell you where to find one now, but I got mine from Crutchfield for $105.

I just bought a Yamaha 6770 (same as the 750, I think) as an upgrade to a Pioneer 563. At $250 online, it's right in the middle of your $200-$300 price range. A nice improvement from the 563 in both sound and picture quality. My "Zoom" ELO concert dvd looked very grainy with the 563, but that all but disappeared with the 6770. It's now smoother and clearer. A good player for the price.
