Ok so here is the deal: I am finishing off my basement and want to have a good system but I also can't break the bank. The main area is 16.6' X 27.6' with 8 foot ceilings. To start off I am installing 4 Polk RC85i speakers in the ceiling. The receiver I am looking at is the Yamaha RX-V675 7.2-Channel Network AV Receiver. My main question is about the floorstanding speakers. I am pretty overwhelmed when it comes to this. There are so many options I have no idea where to start. I want good sound to be able to fill out the whole room. Bascially at the front of the room will be the TV and speakers and then a bar in the back of the room. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as floorstanding speakers for under $500 per speaker? Thanks in advance!

First of all, yamaha, and Pioneer, only allow one crossover setting for all speaker groups. Onkyo, Denon, H/K, etc. allow a different xover setting for each group. This might be a problem if you wind up with towers in the front and small bookshelfs in the rear/back.

There are many decent tower speakers for under $1000 a pair. The Swan Diva 4.2's (although the 5.2 and 6.2's aren't listed anymore),

My Yammy 3010 allows for individual speaker crossovers; fronts, center, surrounds ect each can be set independently in 20 hz steps...maybe its an Aventage thing?
