Andrew, if you've already got some but not all of the Mozart set, you could look into the SACD editions. They've been releasing them in sub-sets. Granted, it winds up costing a lot more, but if you're into hi-rez audio, it might be worth checking out.

    Andrew,

The Brilliant Classics "Complete Mozart" set is discussed here:
    http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...d.php?t=247190

IIUC this set is still available for around $100US or 50 GBP - for 170 CDs. [IMG] [IMG]

The cheap BMS copy of the Hanssler "Complete JS Bach" set is discussed here:
    http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...d.php?t=196700

Sadly the BMS copy has been unavailable for a while....but there is a second cheapie Brilliant Classics set of Bach. Ask Cees about that one.

Let me ruminate on the Mozart piano concerti on Brilliant.....

    I'm a world-class cheapskate.....

I just purchased three cases of the local 2004 Sawtooth Chardonnay at $4.61US a bottle. www.sawtoothwinery.com I also bought four beautiful 5 gallon rhodedendrons for $19.96 each at a local Wallyworld and a specimen 10 gallon Japanese maple at a local Costco for $75. Am I a cheapskate or what?

    You're wisely frugal, my friend.

The better the bargains ya finds, the more stuff ya gets! [IMG]

No problem. It's the German Amazon. Its price is € 88.45.

To navigate the site, if your German is no longer what it used to be, use the English site next to it: they are basically the same.

Thanks for the track listings. I may have to pick one of these up (and the Mozart set, which caught my attention at BB a few weeks ago---not sure I'd live long enough to listen to them all but it'd be nice to have them).

Since the US$ fell to 1.4 per Euro, that makes the price of this set about Euro 18 or half the original Euro price. Just think, Cees, Bernanke tanked the US$ just so you could get a bargain on this set. [IMG]

    True.

My payments, made in New York the first week of September, are now coming in and the bank is translating them to even less Euros than I could have expected the moment I paid (using my cc).

Great man, Dr. Ben S. Bernanke! [IMG]

Just ordered the Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven set for a total of ~$250 on Amazon. I've got a lot of ripping to my music server ahead of me!

    Damn!

There's a new set at the German Amazon, 85 CDs. Price: €76.

The "current" set was called "Complete Masterworks", the new one is "Complete Works".
I haven't studied it in detail, but at first sight it looks quite different in structure and recordings used. (Making me fear it won't be possible to identify 25 "extra CDs").

(I hardly dare pointing it out, but the first one was published by Sony BMG.)

You don't suppose maybe that's why the other one had the bottom drop out of its price, do ya?!

Seeing as how they're two different sets, with different recordings and performers on different labels it hardly seems like this new set would affect the older one's price.
