Thank you and I hope everyone got at least some of the what they wanted. It's been so unusual for so many reasons compared to the last 8 years it's really been hard to
keep up with the oddities and predict how anything should work. It's never been all that unusual to have coupons shut down online (or never allowed from Day 1), but to have
those astounding coupons than nothing was more than unusual. In store it's always had some YMMV, but nothing like this has ever been seen leading to more than a bit of
frustration.

The 1st 10 days it was teh Wild, Wild West with everything goes and the last couple weeks it been tighter than in any sale I can ever remember. Who knows what this will end up meaning for the November sale -- I guess always the assumption being there will be a November sale.

I made it in Saturday morning, since I left work late. I picked up Dr. Strangelove, Fantastic Planet, La Chienne, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Late Spring and the Silent Ozu Three Crime Dramas Eclipse Set. I may try a different store in the morning if I'm out late enough. I'm sure I can find more that I'd like to get. ;)

Further worsening of the online stock going into the last 23 hours. This is astounding to see such utter stripping of an entire collection,
OOS now at a new peak around 285 of the 420 BD. Therre are only about 45 of the BDs that have been in stock for the whole sale
Current list appears nearly 70% of the BD are OOS.

At this point even if a new coupons shows up barring some dramatic restocking in the next 12-16 hrs it seems that any last minute deals are
going to be in-store only.

Just a heads up -- 1st announcement that November BN 50% sale s to start Nov 1. Announced on reddit by a BN employee who has been proven extremely reliable for these deals

No announced end date, but 11/28/Cybermonday would be the normal last day

Just saw the last post -- I checked today again and found nearly 410/420 BDs were in stock again based on BN inventory though the overlap isn't exact. It does seem to give a little clue for items that might be in short supply incl new releases Dekalog currently OOS at BN and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (BN only let me put 3 copies in a cart instead of 30 they other items aren't limited)
I think Alliance also handles the Criterion.com orders so might be important if the flash sale happens 10/4 or 10/6.

Since the Scream! Factory sale seems to be a dud, I might actually have money for this!

But will you be able to wait -- anticipating the Criterion.com Flash sale possibly 10/4 (or 10/11 or 10/6 in order of probability)

At least the Arrow sale has been pretty fun. Probably would have saved a small amt if the ArrowUK flash sale had started in early Sept, but most of the items I wanted I alreayd got from BN. A few things were cheaper at BN, many of the BigBoxes and 14.99 items were the same or cheaper at BN, the 39.99/19.99 level items would have been a little cheaper direct from Arrow, but 11 vs 12-16 evens the whole sale out in the end.

So, David...

I've got a couple 20% off coupons for B&N which were mailed to me. These stack with the 50% Criterion sale (along with the B&N membership discount), correct?

I've been waiting for the sale as I've realized that I have never upgraded my copy of Seven Samurai to Blu. So, with their everyday price of $49.99...it should be reduced to $25.00. A 20% coupon should then bring it down to $20. And then my 10% member discount will bring it down to $18. That sound right?

Question about the B&N sale that starts on the 1st...

Are preorders included or just in-stock items?

They're are supposed to stack with the 50% sale, but with the way the items and coupons were handled last time I don't think anyone knows until it starts whether they will work online and/or instore at all. In the past even when codes were blocked online they still worked instore (in addition to the 10% member discount too) -- last sale even some of the mailer codes wouldn't work though many stores would go ahead and manually apply it anyway since the cards don't specifically exclude Movies/Criterions. It seemed to be dependent on how friendly your stores work

A lot less codes seems to be available at the outset and they have changed the way they list preliminary codes after several years so I don't have any insight on upcoming codes.

The mailer codes are supposed to work once only online or in-store, but most of these mailer codes (like most current BN codes) will work multiple time online even after you use it in store. BEWARE if you are going to use it in both - you must use it instore first and then try it online. If you use it online first then it will come up used why you try it in-store.

Correct the Nov Items will be listed 50% off usually on Day 1 of the sale, but no extra codes will be allowed until release day
Does the B & N 50% sale include all of their in-stock non-Criterion BD's, as well?
If so, then I'm gonna get me that Marx Brothers set, too.
Or, as one of the brothers Marx would say...[paraphrase]
"Sure, that comes with an extra code and two pair of pants.;)

This is a specific Criterion title sale!

but buying the Bros Marx set would qualify him for free shipping if he only wanted one Criterion single movie title (if he was not a B&N member) ...
As long as he understands it doesn't qualify him for 50% off non-Criterion titles.

The 50% off is specifically a Criterion sale. There is a 40% off all Bluray in Decmeber normally though it tends to be all BD instore (excpet Disney often) and 2/3 of their titles online
