I found this locally at Big W in one of the $5 bargain bins. Have only spot-checked the disc and the print looks decent. Very lush Technicolor adventure with one of the early "queens" of the genre, the lovely Maureen O'Hara.

Date of disc manufacture is 2013 and released by Bounty Entertainment (authorized by Universal via 'Hollywood Classics'), one of the smaller 'budget' labels here in Aust. Is this title available anywhere else or is this something of an 'exclusive' at the moment?

It was also released in Germany by Koch Media in 2008 & Universal in Spain in 2010.

You're welcome Byron. $5 sounds like a steal; I'd have grabbed it for that!

I watched it and really enjoyed it. I do recall seeing it for sale on VHS back in the "day", alongside some similar Universal/Maureen O'Hara titles - "Lady Godiva" and "Flame of Araby". Maureen even gets to sing in "Bagdad" which is quite a treat.

Speaking of Lady Godiva, I have a Brazilian DVD of the film and while the colors are decent, it's way too dark! I'd gladly upgrade for a better transfer.

I do have the Spanish Bagdad, I wonder if the same transfer was used?

I had "Lady Godiva" on DVD from the UK as part of a 6-film 'Screen Goddess' collection, but I broke the titles up and sold them. From memory the print was quite good.
