While this isn't a "non-story"...

At least it is Lookout. My phone has the option to completely unload Lookout for something else...as long as that something else is already loaded.

Your title is a little misleading, Sam. From the article:

"We've reached out to Lookout for details on whether the app will be removable on AT&T hardware once the deal takes effect."

So, it is unknown yet if anti-virus is being "forced" on all Android phones by AT&T.

FWIW, I do run AVG on my Droid Razr.

I would totally run an anti-virus program on my Android phone... IF I LIVED IN CHINA.

AVG doesn't really impact the phone's performance. It scans new applications and updates as they are installed. Better safe than sorry, IMO. AVG is free, btw.
