Q1 began filming October 12, 1954 and may be either 1.65/1.66 or 1.75.

Q2 began filming May 28, 1956 and I'd put money on 1.75. The new Blu-ray is an older transfer and I had to move the matte up a few steps from a dead center crop.

X THE UNKNOWN started filming January 23, 1956.

IMHO, QX works as tight as 1.85:1; but if I had to choose, I'd say it was shot 1.75:1.

What's the correct aspect ratio for Forever Female? Amazon is listing Academy ratio for the upcoming blu-ray from Olive Films, but the year of release suggests it should be in a widescreen format.

I loved those subtitles. In fact, I think releasing these movies as they are right now, with optional subtitles, is not presenting them as they were released theatrically. Those films should only be seen with the mandarin and english burned in subs. That is their original presentation form.

I think it was mag Bob. There's a reference to the screening here, http://www.in70mm.com/news/2010/celebration/index.htm beside the Randy Gitsch/Dave Strohmaier photo.

I found a clipping from the person that located the print and it's mono optical. :(

It said they might release it with one of the Cinerama features on Blu-ray. I sure hope so, I'd love to see it!

    Very useful site, thanks Bob.

DANGEROUS MISSION is on BBC2 in the UK next weekend. As per your list, it's 3D and 1.66:1. I'm willing to bet it will be shown in 4:3 and flat on TV though. (The IMDB says 1.75:1.)

Also on TV next weekend is AFFAIR WITH A STRANGER, a RKO film from 1953. Was that made before the changeover and is hence in 1.37:1, as it isn't on your list? Thanks.

There are a LOT of wrong aspect ratios on IMDB. I don't have the patience to try and correct all of them!

AWAS was filmed in July/August 1952 and is 1.37.

Yes, I am very fond of malaproppy subs ... my favourites are on the first set of Astro Boy cartoons I bought, from a Hong Kong source .. they couldn't even get his name right, which changed every few minutes .. Astro Bot was the best ...

Network is scheduled to release DUEL IN THE JUNGLE on DVD on August 4.

If anybody has a contact with Network, please let them know that it was composed for widescreen 1.66:1.

Is the Duel in the Jungle blurb from Variety Magazine? If not, which magazine?'

Bob, If there is one thing I learned about foreign films, it's that it is harder to find the filming dates, than American films. Especially Hong Kong films. French and Italian versions of eBay never have any call sheets for foreign films. But it does seem like Variety Magazine is a good source, as are the French and Italian versions of Wikipedia. For example, thanks to Variety Magazine and the French Wikipedia, I was able to find the filming dates for the French-made Alain Delon film The Adventurers (Filmed from September 15-November 12, 1966; Released on April 12, 1967; had an American release in 1969).
