One little problem with this theory: A lot of may live in towns, like mine ,where the B&M store frankly suck and the nearest thing is an hour away minimum...

I can about gurantee you that HTD, Ascend, probably the Swans and Rockets easily compare if not exceed the bulk of what you can buy in B&M's. It's your loss to write all those off out of hand.

P.S. You can demo any of those brands for 30 days.

I would never buy Kenwood, Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer speakers.

These guys make pretty good electronics, but their speakers are horrible. Too bright, hollow, muffled bass, directional. Pretty much crap.

This is speaking from experience with all of the above brands. Currently stuck with Kenwood towers which I plan to use as bookshelf speaker stands.
