RJ's vision for JCP begins to take shape: http://kensegall.com/2013/02/meanwhile-over-at-ron-johnsons-place/ Also, tonight is the annual stock holder's meeting. Don't expect any real news but a ton of flakes offering new theories and rumors.

JCP website is an unmitigated disaster. Avoid at all costs. For a guy who should know high tech, it's incomprehensible how the expect to compete with Amazon with a website that doesn't work.

He doesn't mention that as a failing, tho he lists a few other big ones: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/28/business/jc-penneys-chief-says-his-mistakes-led-to-big-loss.html?smid=tw-share

She's wildly controversial but truly successful in getting products traction in the Asian market, where apple is actually struggling a bit right now

Yeah, I always wondered why Apple was so slow at expand their retail operations abroad, in China and elsewhere, particularly since so much of their cash is stashed abroad, doing little. Clearly Ahrendts is suited for that role.

SInce wearing a Burberry raincoat in the 80s I've barely been conscious that Burberry are still in business - why is she controversial?

Early reviews show it as a love fest:
Ahrendts has also been touring many of Apple’s stores in the areas surrounding Apple’s Cupertino, California campus. Ahrendts is said to have visited the new Stanford store and multiple stores in San Francisco. Employees who have met with Ahrendts describe the new retail chief as “warm and genuine,” “honest,” and “passionate.” As one senior-ranking Apple retail executive put it, “she is so Apple.”

...

As Ahrendts told some Apple retail managers, “I got my MBA at Burberry, but I will get my PhD at Apple.”
