Oh and THIS is outrageous! Steve Jobs must be roll...

Because Instagram had quietly switched me over from Foursquare’s excellent place database, to Facebook’s shitty one. Try as I might, I could not locate the venue.

Oh wait. Isn't that exactly what Apple did? Yep. cause controlling the whole stack isn't just important, it's -everything-

And BTW:
But the product is worse because of this change. Facebook place database is a nightmare of mislabeled and mislocated geo-barf. The data makes Apple Maps look like a pristine globe of information

I don't understand the appeal of Instagram or Foursquare. :)But this move by Facebook makes complete sense. I'm surprised by the rant by Sieglar, who obviously knows better. The lesson, and better rant, is why companies don't prep better for such a transition.

Jeepers! Fellow HTF Member Jessica Frey Cucka's son nearly burned down their house with a crappy iPhone charger from CVS.https://www.facebook.com/jessica.frey/posts/10152622180287884The Apple Charger is $20 and built like a tank. It's not worth losing your home and family to save $10 by buying cheap chinese knockoffs. CVS doesn't care about quality, they push this cheap plastic crap every day.

The article's intro a willful ignorance of Steve Jobs and Apple:"The launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus — and the latter's massive 5.5-inch screen — appear to prove Apple founder Steve Jobs was completely wrong when he said in 2010 "no one" would want to buy a phone with a big screen."Steve Jobs said no one would watch video on an iPod, and then a year later introduced a video-capable iPod. He repeatedly executed and then reversed his position and executed for greater success. It is no leap to speculate that he was convinced that 4" phones were optimal, until they weren't and then would have wholeheartedly endorsed a phablet like the 6p.The rest of the article goes on to say that Apple responds to market forces to grow profits, rather than ignoring and failing? Is this a surprise? Has Business Insider not noticed Apple's shift away from desktops to laptops, and greater focus on mobile...because that's where the money is?I don't get it, this article.

Hanson: Do I have your permission to change the title of this thread to something that includes Apple Maps in it and we'll keep it as the historical record of the Apple Maps saga?

Apple Maps: Steve Jobs must be rolling over in his grave

Or something like that?

Anyway, reason I'm bumping it is two fold. First, looks like a new vehicle rumored to be an Apple version of Street View has been spotted:

Second, for those of you wanting walking directions, this might be of interest too:

This is is a welcome and overdue feature for me in DC. but leapfrogging Google with national public transit maps? Seems unlikely, even with a great extra feature.
