I saw them live in 2006 (perhaps the first tour with the "new" band?). Hard to believe that the "new" GnR has been touring 8 years now and only one album was released in 2008. Well, there's only one Axl.

I love it! I got to see him perform a similar concert with that same group of musicians in New York City a few years ago. I'm really happy to have that on home video in any format, but especially 3D.

It looks like Gabriel had his recent "Back To Front" tour where he performs the entire "So" album filmed in 4K -- although I think that's in 2D, not 3D. I think there are some upcoming theatrical screenings as part of the Fathom events thing, so hopefully a Blu won't be too far away for that either.

Sorta off topic: I'm not big into 80's/early 90's metal but I loved Guns N Roses when I was a little kid so for a trip down memory lane, I listened to Appetite For Destruction again a few years ago and I was happily surprised to find that it's probably the best rock record of the 1980's. Their other records have some cool stuff too but basically all of Appetite is just great.

Alas, my friends had to cancel on me for the Vegas trip the other night, so I will not be seeing the show tonight. Might make the 3D blu-ray a purchase down the line still, though.

Another (sorta) off topic. Did they film any gigs from the super-long Use Your Illusion Tour? And I mean in film, so that the HD transfer could be created?One concert from Japan was released on DVD, I believe.

I believe there are two DVDs of that show, each has half or something -- but if I remember correctly (been ages since I saw it at a friends house), they were shot on tape, so I think it probably is what it is.

I believe they were shot for the Japanese satellite TV (?), so the original resolution is probably NTSC. Sadly. I guess this is a problem with many older concerts originally recorded on TV. They were shot in NTSC or PAL video, so only option for BD is a upscaled HD.(Totally off topic: I believe "The Cure: In Orange" is coming at least to DVD at some point and it was certainly shot in film. BD please!)
