Hi everybody. New kid on the block here. This not an urgent need, but would help my wife's sense of competence if there were a way to pass through the tv signal on my Marantz 5007 so she could watch tv with the receiver on standby. I don't think that's something provided on the 5007, but just want to make sure. Thanks Cruce

You could easily find out. Turn on the Marantz, pick the input for cable/sat and turn the AVR back off. My onkyo 707 does it. The feature is called "HDMI passthrough in standby" (if the manual mentions it).

Thanks, Sam. That was my first action, so that means my 5007 isn't going to help out my wife.

What source are you using?(Directv/dish/comcast/uverse???) You might try a component/RCA straight to the TV. The only thing you lose is PPV 1080P(if you even have/use it).
